'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' Emerges at GDC
Thu Mar 28, 2013 at 09:30 AM ETTags: Metal Gear, Fox Engine, Konami, Hideo Kojima (all tags)
The story of Big Boss continues even as 'Moby Dick Games' stunt still baffles some press.
Yesterday, Hideo Kojima unveiled a game that has previously twice been teased. Powered by the new FOX Engine, what has been revealed of 'Metal Gear Solid V' contains both the earlier teased 'Ground Zeroes' and 'The Phantom Pain' of hilarious, supposed Moby Dick Games. The game has thus far been announced for two platforms, the Xbox 360 and PS3.
As the game's story continues to be eked out in snippets of footage, what seems clear is that 'Metal Gear Solid V' follows the events of 'Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker,' and brings the story ever closer to the to the events of the twenty-five year old 'Metal Gear.'
In 'MGSV,' the player character awakes after nine years of coma and must struggle to regain mobility while making a daring escape. Post escape, the game promises to open up and offers a level of open world freedom hitherto unseen in 'Metal Gear' games, but promised since the debut of the Fox Engine.

Both a New Metal Gear Solid Game and Movie Confirmed
Thu Aug 30, 2012 at 01:30 PM ETTags: Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, Avi Arad (all tags)
The game is titled ‘Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes’ and is an open world title that looks like it’ll be hitting current gen consoles.
A good chunk of new Metal Gear news came out of the 25th anniversary panel in Tokyo, including the reveal of the latest installment, ‘Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.’ The game is being developed for "current generation specifications,” which implies that we’ll be seeing it hit the PS3, instead of having to wait for the next-gen consoles.
There was also a movie announced, which is being produced by Avi Arad. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Arad was responsible for the initial surge of Marvel movies, such as the X-Men trilogy, ‘Iron Man,’ ‘The Incredible Hulk,’ and, most recently, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man.’
Also announced – a card based smartphone game. We’re going to go ahead and say that this is the less exciting of the three announcements.

The panel will touch upon the past, present and future of the series.
Konami has just announced that videogame industry legend Hideo Kojima will be presenting a panel in celebration of a quarter century of Metal Gear. The panel will run for an hour and will be a full introspective about where the series is now, how it got there, and where it’s going.
Of course, it’s the future that’s most exciting. Fans that attend may be the first to get a glimpse of what ‘Metal Gear Solid 5’ has to offer. At the very least, you’ll learn more about ‘Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’

Kojima Will Reveal 'Metal Gear Solid 5' Engine in August
Mon Jul 23, 2012 at 02:30 PM ETTags: Metal Gear Solid 5, Metal Gear, Hideo Kojima, Fox Engine (all tags)
The hope, of course, is that we'll see a bit of 'Metal Gear 5' with it.
Hideo Kojima, the man behind 'Metal Gear,' will be revealing his brand new Fox Engine on August 30th. The engine isn't finished yet, but Kojima still wants to give folks a peek at what's on the way. What's even more interesting is that part of what he's showing off may be 'Metal Gear Solid 5.'
"The Fox Engine is nearly finished, but the only way to be sure it works is to create a game at the same time and improve the engine with our tools as we go along," says Kojima. Presumably, that game is MGS5.

'Metal Gear Solid 5' Has Been Confirmed by Hideo Kojima
Thu Jun 21, 2012 at 11:30 AM ETTags: Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid 5, Hideo Kojima (all tags)
You'll see more Solid Snake as well as some inspiration from Western games. Conversation trees anyone?
This is about as big a surprise as 'Halo 4' and 'Avengers 2,' but Hideo Kojima has officially confirmed that 'Metal Gear Solid 5' is on the way. The reveal of the title isn't impressive in and of itself, but there are a few interesting developments regarding just what we can expect to see in the game.
"I loved the idea of the social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution that we've seen," says Kojima. He didn't delve any further into just how that all affected "If I say more about it, the ninja PR woman behind the door will chop me into pieces."
Kojima says that we can expect Solid Snake to stick around for the new game too.

'Metal Gear Solid HD Collection' is Coming to the Vita this Summer
Mon Mar 12, 2012 at 10:30 AM ETTags: Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, PlayStation Vita (all tags)
It's not as complete a collection as other version though, and is missing 'Peace Walker.'
Vita fans are soon going to be able to get their stealth action fix with the 'Metal Gear Solid HD Collection,' a title that's been out on home consoles for a while now.
Going portable, you'd expect to lose a bit of graphical fidelity and see a drop in audio quality, but you're losing content as well. 'Metal Gear Solid 2' and 'Metal Gear Solid 3' are included but the one title actually made for a portable system, 'Peace Walker,' is absent.
Konami says you can expect the game this summer. Amazon is guessing at a $39 price point, which seems just about right.
