Fox has announced updated details for the Blu-ray release of 'Jumper,' which will now add D-Box to its extras menu.

As previously reported, Fox has set a June 10 street date for the Hayden Christensen teleportation thriller (day-and-date with the standard DVD), and unveiled a complete line-up of specs with hours of extras.

D-Box combines real-life motion control of your home theater seating in sync with the on-screen action, and Fox will now enhance the 'Jumper' Blu-ray to deliver plenty of rumble during the film's famed teleportation and other action scenes.

Previously-announced supplements on the Blu-ray will feature audio commentary (with director Doug Liman, writer-producer Simon Kinberg and producer Lucas Foster), four featurettes ("Jumping From Novel To Film: The Past, Present & Future of Jumper," "Making an Actor Jump," "Doug Liman's Jumper: Uncensored," "Jumping Around The World"), six deleted scenes, "Future Concepts" pre-visuzalizations, and the animated graphic novel "Jumpstart: David's Story."

Exclusive to the Blu-ray will be the picture-in-picture feature "Jumping Around the World," which will make full use of the Blu-ray format's Profile 1.1 capabilities (a Profile 1.1-enabled player required).

Tech specs for the Blu-ray feature 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, English 5.1 DTS HD Loss less Master Audio plus English, French and Spanish Dolby 5.1 Surround, and Spanish, Cantonese, Korean, and Mandarin subtitles

As previously announced, Fox has set a suggested retail price of $39.98 for the Blu-ray.

Fox Plotting 'Firefly' for Blu-ray

Tue Apr 08, 2008 at 03:00 PM ET
Tags: TV on High-Def, Fox (all tags)

Attention, browncoats: there's no date yet, but Fox says it's planning an extensive Blu-ray release for the TV cult phenomenon 'Firefly.'

That's according to TV Shows on DVD, which recently posted an update reporting that they've received confirmation from the studio that it's currently in the early stages of preparing a major Blu-ray box set release of the short-lived but much-beloved Joss Whedon series.

The online rumor mill first started buzzing a couple of weeks ago, after 'Firefly' cast member Jewel Staite revealed to an Australian convention crowd that she'd recently been contacted by Fox in regards to contributing to a new box set release of the complete 'Firefly' series, though no format was specified.

When TV Shows on DVD approached the studio for comment on the rumors, they were reportedly told by a Fox rep that "news travels fast." The rep went on to confirm that a 'Firefly' Blu-ray release is currently in the early development stages, though supplement details and a street date window were a long way off.

Running for only one season to generally low ratings, 'Firefly' nevertheless has gone on to gain one of the most devoted cult followings in the history of network television. When and if the show does arrive on Blu-ray, however, it won't be the first next-gen appearance for the property. Universal previously release the big-screen 'Firefly' spin-off 'Serenity' on HD DVD back in early 2006 (though at press time the studio has not yet announced plans for a Blu-ray version).

Needless to say, watch this space for news on this developing story.

In the meantime, we've added 'Firefly' to the "Release Dates Pending" section of our Blu-ray Release Schedule. Stay tuned!

After a delay of over six months, MGM has rescheduled the Blu-rays of 'Battle of Britain' and 'A Bridge Too Far' for early June.

Originally announced for a November high-def debut, MGM yanked both WWII-themed titles from their schedule, citing plans to re-schedule both as part of a planned Father's Day promotion.

Now MGM has made good on those plans, slotting in both 'Battle of Britain' and 'Bridge Too Far' for a June 3 Blu-ray launch. (Where they'll join three other recently-announced Fox/MGM war-themed titles, 'Patton,' 'The Sand Pebbles' and 'The Longest Day,' which are all due the same day.)

MGM has yet to issue tech specs or supplement details for either 'Battle of Britain' or 'Bridge Too Far,' but full details should arrive shortly. Watch this space.

Suggested retail for the Blu-rays has been set at $39.98 a pop.
