Confirming previous rumors, Disney has announced a November Blu-ray debut for Pixar's 'Wall•E,' which will come to Blu-ray with exclusive content and Digital Copy.

As previously reported, Disney had earlier alerted retailers to a November 18 Blu-ray release for the Pixar blockbuster (day-and-date with the DVD), but the studio stopped short of officially announcing the date to the press or issuing specs.

The first confirmed details are now in, with Disney bringing 'Wall•E' to Blu-ray as a two-disc edition, along with single-disc and three-disc DVD configurations.

Extras on the Blu-ray will contain all of the DVD bonus features, including audio commentary with director Andrew Stanton, five featurettes ("Animation Sound Design: Building Worlds from the Sound Up," "Sneak Peek: WALL-E's Tour of the Universe," "The Pixar Story by Leslie Iwerks," "BnL Shorts," "Wall-E's Treasures and Trinkets"), deleted scenes, the new animated short: "Burn-E" and a "Lots of Bots" storybook.

Included on a second disc will be a Digital Copy of the film (in standard-def) playable on PCs and other portable video devices.

Exclusive to the Blu-ray release will be additional picture-in-picture commentary, and a suite of three as-yet-untitled interactive games

Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $39.98.

You'll find the latest specs for 'Wall•E' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under November 18.

Disney has yet to officially announce it, but a new trade ad has revealed the studio appears to be planning a mid-November bow for the Pixar hit 'Wall•E.'

Opening to rhapsodic reviews (with many critics hailing it as an instant classic) and a box office gross now topping $200 million (and counting), 'Wall•E' is one of the most highly-anticipated Blu-ray releases of the year.

Though we are still awaiting an official announcement, retailers have reported receiving a trade ad touting a November 18 Blu-ray arrival for 'Wall•E,' day-and-date with the standard DVD.

No tech specs or supplemental details are available at this early juncture, though the ad does tout the Blu-ray as a two-disc set, which certainly bodes well for extensive extras.

There's also no suggested list price, but we'll keep you posted.

As we await further word, you'll find preliminary specs for 'Wall•E' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under November 18.

Disney Previews 'Cars' Blu-ray Interactive Features

Disney has posted a new trailer for its upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Cars,' providing a first glimpse at the disc's much-hyped interactive features.

As previously reported, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment plans to debut the animated blockbuster on November 6, when it will be one of a trio of the first Pixar releases to hit Blu-ray (alongside 'Ratatouille' and 'The Pixar Short Film Collection' ).

Hyped as the "High-Definition Event of the Year" in the lengthy trailer (watch it in full here), 'Cars' seems poised to push the limits of what we've seen so far on the Blu-ray format in terms of interactivity.

Highlighted specifically in the clip are first looks at two features exclusive to the 'Cars' Blu-ray release. Stretching the format's BD-Java capabilities is the "Car Finder" game, allowing viewers to search for over 200 models of cars hidden throughout the movie, and even "race the clock" to find a specific car in a frozen frame of film.

Also touted is the "Cine-Explore" mode, where John Lasseter "personally guides you through the making of the movie while you watch the movie." Judging from the footage that appears in the trailer, the "Cine-Explore" function looks similar to the "In-Movie Experience" picture-in-picture video commentaries common to the HD DVD format, making 'Cars' among the first announced titles to replicate this much sought-after feature on Blu-ray.

Additional announced features on 'Cars' include deleted scenes, the short film "Mater and the Ghostlight" and all of the other features included on the standard-def DVD version of the film, released late last year.

As always, you'll find full specs for 'Cars' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, under the disc's release date of November 6.

Hide the cheese! Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that the rats of 'Ratatouille' will make their Blu-ray debut this November.

Due in stores November 6, day-and-date with the standard-def DVD version, the Blu-ray edition of 'Ratatouille' will boast a 1080p transfer in the film's original 2.40:1 aspect ratio and uncompressed PCM 5.1 audio (at 48kHz/24-bit).

Among the bonus features will be a new documentary on the making of the film, deleted scenes and the short film "Your Friend the Rat." Extra exclusive to the Blu-ray include "Gusteau's Gourmet Game" and a "Cine-Explore" mode, which Disney is dubbing the "ultimate behind-the-scenes innovative experience." (We hope to get further information soon on just what exactly this feature entails -- stay tuned!)

In what are sure to be three of the biggest-selling next-gen titles yet, Disney has set Spring street dates for the Blu-ray releases of the blockbuster 'Pirates of the Caribbean' films, and Pixar's first high-def title, 'Cars.'

Just in time for the theatrical release of the third 'Pirates' epic, Disney has set a May 22 voyage for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.' These guaranteed huge sellers will be followed on June 5 by 'Cars,' the Pixar hit and current favorite for this year's Best Animated Film Oscar.

The dates recently began filtering to online retailer outlets earlier this week, and Disney has trumpeted the news in a full-page ad in the print version of this week's Video Business, the industry trade paper.

Though no official press release has been issued as of yet, word to High-Def Digest from the studio is that full details are on the way soon. So we'll certainly keep you posted on tech specs, bonus features and box art as soon as word arrives on these highly-anticipated releases.

In the meantime, we've updated the listings for all three titles to our complete Blu-ray Release Schedule.

CES: Buena Vista 2007 Blu-ray Booty to Include 'Pirates,' First Pixar Release with 'Cars'

Blu-ray title announcements continue to make a strong showing at CES, with Buena Vista set to unleash an extensive wave of major blockbusters and top catalog hits in 2007.

"Blu-ray is quickly becoming the high-definition standard on the market today, and we are very pleased to add this amazing slate of Blu-ray releases that will appeal to our core demographic," stated BVWHE President Bob Chapek stated via a prepared press release. "With the dual-layer, 50GB discs, the possibilities for exciting new interactive features and additional bonus content are endless."

Like most of the title announcements pouring out of CES, there are no hard specs for any of the Disney titles, but we remain confident and hopeful for plenty of bonus features and other goodies, especially given Chapek's statement of continued support by the studio for BD-50s.

Expected from Buena Vista/Disney in the coming year are the following titles, all newly announced for Blu-ray release:

March 20: 'Chicken Little,' 'Finding Neverland'

April 3: 'King Arthur Director's Cut,' 'G.I. Jane'

May (Exact Date Not Announced): 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,' 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest'

June 8: 'Con Air,' 'Crimson Tide,' 'The Rock'

Summer: 'Cars,' 'The Recruit,' 'Open Range,' 'Remember The Titans'

The studio also plans to begin the worldwide roll-out of Blu-ray into Europe and Asia beginning in March, a line-up that will also include the 'Pirates' films' and 'Cars,' plus a variety of titles that, in the U.S. at least, are not distributed by Disney on video, including hits like 'Bruce Almighty,' 'Scary Movie 4' and 'Starship Troopers.'

Another impressive, very thorough spate of great titles, and we've added all to our Blu-ray Release Schedule. Stay tuned for further news as it is officially announced.
