You'll get an AVR-1312 receiver and the SYS-1312 surround speaker package.

If you've ever tried to upgrade a home theater in a box then you may have run into the problem of proprietary cables which completely shut down the option. It'd be nice to be able to run new speakers or pick up a new receiver, but it's just not a thing you can do.

That's one of the very nice things about picking up one of Denon's home theater systems. The new DHT-1312XP 5.1 system comes with a proper receiver. The AVR-1312 isn't exactly a high-end receiver, but it's a proper receiver that you can end up replacing or hooking up new speakers to when it's time.

The system comes with five satellite speakers and a matching subwoofer. It's 3D ready, boasts four HDMI inputs, the Compressed Audio Restorer to fix up your MP3s and 110 watts of power to every channel.

The system is available now at a price of $599.

At $529, it's the cheapest 3D capable 7.1 channel receiver from Denon yet.

The AVR-1912 does just about everything you'd expect a mid-range receiver to do. It boasts six HDMI inputs, all of which are 3D capable. It decodes the latest audio formats including Dolby Pro Logic IIz. It even packs Audyssey Dynamic EQ and MultiEQ XT for simple setup.

In fact, a simple setup is one of the things that Denon has been focusing on for this new receiver. In addition to the Audyssey feature, Denon has included an onscreen setup wizard that takes you through speaker connection, calibration, suggested settings, and plenty more.

Denon's AVR-1912 is network capable and can stream both audios and photos from your PC. It also handles internet radio and can play music directly from your iPod or iPhone via a USB connection or with AirPlay, which is built right in.

The AVR-1912 is available now at a price of $529.

Denon Upgrades High End Receivers - Adds Audyssey Features and More

The upgrade is slated to hit in October, and will include 3D pass-through capabilities.

When you buy a cheap receiver, chances are there won't be any sympathy when it goes out of date. You'll just have to buy a new one. When you get high-end gear though, the companies tend to be a lot more interested in keeping you on as a customer.

Denon is no exception, and will be offering a hardware and firmware upgrade to owners of their high-end AVR-5308CI and AVP-A1HDCI receivers this October.

"Early adopters who purchased the flagship AVR-5308CI A/V receiver and AVP-A1HDCI Preamplifier nearly 4 years ago bought them with the confidence that they would experience the very best home entertainment for years to come," says Denon's Jeff Talmadge.

If you want to get more details on the upgrade, you can sign up to be alerted by email from Denon.

Denon Announces 100th Anniversary Product Line

Thu Aug 26, 2010 at 02:00 PM ET
Tags: Denon, Blu-ray Players, Receivers (all tags)

Seven new products are set to launch, including a receiver, a Blu-ray player, and even a turntable.

It's great to see a company hit a milestone like this. There aren't a lot of companies that make it to 10 years, let alone 100, and it's certainly something worth celebrating. In Denon's case, they're marking the occasion with a special line of products.

You'll be able to easily identify the Anniversary Product Collection thanks to the A100 in the model number of every product in the line. As you might expect, Denon has pulled out the stops, and is creating what the company's own Jeff Talmadge describes as "a tribute to Denon’s century long mission: to faithfully reproduce sound and images exactly as the original artist intended."

This November, Denon will be releasing a 9.2 channel receiver, a universal Blu-ray player, an integrated amplifier, a turntable, a cartridge, and SACD player and a pair of over the ear headphones, all designed to capture the Denon spirit.

We'll have full details on each product as the release date nears.

Denon Launches a Compact Two-Channel Blu-ray System

Because sometimes you don't need a full 9.2 channel setup.

Just because you're watching on a smaller TV, or in a less open space doesn't mean you don't want top notch audio quality from your Blu-rays. That's why Denon launched the new D-X1000BD Blu-ray system.

As an amplifier, it pushes 70 watts to two channels. It supports Blu-ray discs, CDs, DVDs, and features two USB ports in the front – one for iPod and iPhone digital direct play and the other for flash memory. You can upgrade the unit to work with network steaming content as well.

Denon's Blu-ray system also acts as a competent headphone amp, including Dolby Headphone, which delivers 5.1 channel surround right to your headphones. It's a fantastic setup for those times you want a more singular experience.

Two speakers are included with the system, both of which feature Denon Dual Layer cone technology – also used in the high-end CX stereo speakers.

The D-X1000BD will be hitting the UK this September at a price of around $1,250. There's no word on a US release date as of yet.

The 5.1 channel DHT-1311XP is hitting the UK this September.

Denon's new home theater system, known as the DHT-1311XP, is built with 3D in mind. It sports four HDMI 1.4 inputs with full support for 3D pass-through tech, Deep Color and x.v.Color.

The receiver at the heart of the system – the AVR-1311 – powers five channels with 110 watts to each. It supports the latest in HD audio formats, but handles lower bitrate MP3s too. It's even got a built in Compressed Audio Restorer that works to make those MP3s sound as good as possible.

The package also comes with a pair of SC-F391 front speakers which sport a pair of three inch mid drivers, an SC-C391 center channel and a pair of SC-R391 surrounds. Denon also includes a 100 watt sub to kick out the bass.

Neither a US release date or pricing have been announced as of yet, but it's coming to the UK in September at around $700.

Denon Makes its Way Into Social Media

The new initiative puts a stronger focus on communication with customers and installers.

As customers, we tend to like being talked to. Sure, the Apple model works for some companies, but generally we want to know what's going on. Even more importantly, we want to know that someone is actually listening.

Denon has finally jumped into the waters of social media for this very reason. The company is now on Facebook and is endeavoring to improve its presence on YouTube. As Denon's Jeff Talmadge puts it, the new move will help the company to "communicate on a closer and more meaningful basis with our discriminating consumers, retail partners and anyone interested in learning the 'how, why, when and where' of Denon."

Denon is also showing renewed vigor in the official Denon Blog, which includes posts from their YouTube account, new gear announcements and other info. The company has also launched a site that's counting down the days until Denon's 100th anniversary. Entitled , the site gives a timeline style history of the company's achievements.

Denon Reveals 2010 Receiver Line

Wed Apr 28, 2010 at 02:30 PM ET
Tags: Denon (all tags)

A total of ten new receivers will be available across a broad range of prices starting next month.

Denon unleashed a torrent of information about their upcoming products, including a total of ten new A/V receivers.

The Retail Home Theater line consists of entry level Denon products. It's the stuff you'll find at places like Best Buy, but probably not in the Magnolia section. Three new 7.1 channel models and two new 5.1 channel models are coming to stores starting next month.

Among these is the incredibly affordable $249 AVR-391 which strips down to bare bones functionality. Even at the low end, it's got HDMI v1.4a repeater inputs and an audio return channel, but it ditches features like analog to HDMI upscaling and HD audio decoding.

Two more advanced 7.1 channel receivers – the $599 AVR-1911 and $399 AVR-1611 – will be arriving in June. They include Anchor Bay deinterlacing and upscaling as well as multi-zone music functionality. You can, for example, watch a movie in one room while channeling music to another.

The final three receivers coming from Denon this year are in the CI class. They're made for custom installers and the prices and functionality reflect it. At the top of the line is the $1,999 AVR-4311CI due out this September. It's a 9.2 channel receiver with Control4 certification, MultiRoom EQ correction and a handful of features to improve video, including Anchor Bay VRS processing.

Two New 3-D Ready Blu-ray Players From Denon

Wed Apr 28, 2010 at 12:00 PM ET
Tags: Denon, 3D (all tags)

Both players feature YouTube and Netflix connectivity as well as DLNA 1.5 compliance.

Denon has a pair of new Blu-ray players that will be hitting shelves in the next few months. They were designed to be universal players, which means they can play back "virtually all 5-inch silver discs," as Denon's press release puts it.

The DBP-1611UD (June) and DBP-2011UDCI (August) are marketed as 3-D ready players, but they won't handle three dimensional video right out of the box. You won't have long to wait, since Denon has a 3-D firmware update slated for this fall.

Both players offer DNLA compliance, so streaming video from your PC should be nice and easy. You can also stream from YouTube and Netflix, but since Denon doesn't mention WiFi, you can expect to plug these in.

The DBP-2011UDCI separates itself from the 1161UD when it comes to Blu-ray playback though. Though the $399 1161UD does offer HDMI v1.4a outputs and 36-Bit Deep Color, it doesn't have the Anchor Bay decoding engine that the $799 2011UDCI has. The higher-end model also sports the new Burr-Brown 32-Bit Audio DACs.
