Blizzard Delays the Real Money 'Diablo III' Auction House
Thu May 17, 2012 at 12:30 PM ETTags: Diablo III, Diablo, Blizzard (all tags)
The company says that it has no plans to open the auction house for business until all other issues are resolved.
'Diablo III,' like practically all games with an online component, has been off to a rocky start. The game has been plagued with errors and server issues and some that purchased the game haven't even had a chance to play yet. Not a great way to kick things off.
Blizzard has apologized for the issues and is currently working to make sure nothing of the sort happens again, but they've also announced that the grand experiment of a real money auction house is going to be put on hold. The original launch date was May 22nd – at the time of this writing, Blizzard has not announced a new one.

'Diablo III' Beta Open to All This Weekend
Fri Apr 20, 2012 at 10:30 AM ETTags: Diablo, Diablo III, Blizzard, Betas (all tags)
If you've got a Battle.net account, you get to play during stress test weekend.
Dying for some early access to one of the biggest games of 2012? This is your weekend. Blizzard is having a 'Diablo III' stress test weekend and is inviting anyone who wants to play to download the client and join in the fun.
There are a few restrictions for the new crop of beta testers, but nothing that should cause too much of an issue. You won't get special access to beta test forums, you'll be restricted in the in-game auction house and you won't be able to level past 13. With all the new classes to try out, you'll still have plenty to do.
Of course, keep in mind that this is intended as a stress test. That means you're going to be dealing with queues, server problems, lag, and all the other stuff that comes with a game that too many people are playing at once.

Blizzard is Sending Out 275,000 More 'Diablo III' Beta Invites
Fri Apr 13, 2012 at 11:30 AM ETTags: Diablo III, Beta Tests, Blizzard, Diablo (all tags)
The game is only a month away from release and it's time to really ramp up the tests and hammer everything out.
'Diablo III' is one of the most hotly anticipated games of the year, and a title that folks have been looking forward to for years. It's finally going to release next month – May 15th – but over a quarter million players will be getting their hands on it early.
Blizzard has announced that it's just begun sending out beta invites to a total of 275,000 testers, which will almost certainly result in a good chunk of people shutting themselves in over the weekend instead of going out. We don't blame them.
Two things to keep in mind during this invite phase. First and foremost, don't click anything in a beta invite email. If it's legit, the information will appear in your Battle.net account so log in there to download the client. Scammers will be out in droves. The second is that part of the reason for this test is to make sure the queue system works and stress test the servers, so don't be surprised if you can't get in right away.

Blizzard Reveals New 'Mists of Pandaria' Info and Trailers
Tue Mar 20, 2012 at 10:30 AM ETTags: World of Warcraft, Mists of Pandaria, Blizzard, MMORPGs (all tags)
There's info on the Monk, pet battles, farms and plenty more.
Finally the nondisclosure agreement between the press and Blizzard has been lifted and sites are free to delve deep with the information and screenshots. Specialist site Wowhead went into great detail about Mists of Pandaria its latest update, including an 11 minute long video all about the changes you'll see in the new update.
If you're into achievements, both personal and in-game, new challenge mode instances will be right up your alley. In challenge mode, you have a set amount of time to beat an instance to earn special rewards and "realm first" achievements for being the first to do it.
One sour note is that the Defense of the Ancients style battleground idea is no more. There will still be world PvP in Pandaria, but those looking to mix some DoTA in with their WoW will be disappointed.
Check out the video and screenshots over at Wowhead

'Diablo III' Coming Out on May 15th
Thu Mar 15, 2012 at 10:30 AM ETTags: Diablo III, Diablo, Blizzard (all tags)
The 'Warcraft' annual pass deal will be offered until May 1st.
It's been 12 years since the release of 'Diablo II' and 11 since the expansion 'Lord of Destruction.' As great as that game is, a decade is a long time to play one game. In two months, we'll finally have some new 'Diablo.'
'Diablo III' will finally launch on May 15th, much to the delight of Blizzard fans everywhere. The game will be shipping without PvP, which is a bit of a bummer, but it seems like folks are generally pretty forgiving of the missing feature if it means the game comes out sooner.
'Diablo III' is available for preorder now from Amazon, but if you're a 'Warcraft' player you'll want to take a look at the annual pass deal that Blizzard has going right now. If you lock yourself in for a year of Warcraft, you'll get a free copy of 'Diablo III' – not too shabby.

PvP Dropped From 'Diablo III' to Make Launch Window
Mon Mar 12, 2012 at 11:30 AM ETTags: Diablo III, Blizzard, Game Delays (all tags)
Blizzard says it will be coming back at a later date.
When Blizzard finds something that works, the company tends not to mess with the formula. The 'Diablo' games are a fine example - they've been tweaked in different ways but the core game remains the same. 'Diablo III' is going to be much the same way, at launch at least. The expansion brings a few new things into the mix, but one of the big additions has been shelved for now.
The games player vs player mode is something Blizzard just isn't happy with yet. "The PvP game and systems aren’t yet living up to our standards," says 'Diablo III' director Jay Wilson. "We’ve made the difficult decision to hold back the PvP Arena system and release it in a patch following the game’s launch."
Wilson assures fans that when the PvP system is ready to go, it's going to be incredibly strong, feature multiple maps, player progression and more.
