As is becoming standard for larger releases, 'Hitman Absolution' is going to be available in both standard and special editions when it launches later this year. Included in the special edition is an art book and a "making of" video detailing the process behind creating a game.
SquareEnix has also revealed preorder bonuses. Different pistols will be coming with preorders from Amazon and Walmart, while GameStop gets a sniper rifle and Best Buy gets equipped with a submachine gun.
According to SquareEnix, more preorder bonuses are on the way.

Square Enix Announces Release Dates for 'Theatrythm Final Fantasy' and 'Kingdom Hearts 3D'
Thu Apr 05, 2012 at 11:30 AM ETTags: Theatrythm Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Square Enix (all tags)
Both will be hitting in July, with 'Theatrythm' being the first.
Square Enix has announced release dates for upcoming 3DS versions of two of its most popular franchises. First up is 'Theatrythm Final Fantasy,' which isn't up on Amazon yet but comes to shelves on July 3rd. It also might take the title of "Worst Square Enix" game name from 'Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.'
The slightly more sensibly titled 'Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance' is set to release on July 31st, giving fans more enemies, more Disney worlds and two protagonists.
Is it possible to make enough jokes at the expense of the current Square Enix naming convention? We think not.

'Chrono Trigger' Comes to the iPhone
Fri Dec 09, 2011 at 09:30 AM ETTags: iPhone, iTunes, Square Enix, Chrono Trigger (all tags)
It's one of the most highly regarded RPGs of all time and it's yours for $9.99
From the sound of a ticking clock that opens the game to the final battle with Lavos, from BC to AD and from Alya to Robo, 'Chrono Trigger' is one of the most beloved roleplaying games of all time. It blew nearly everything else out of the water during the 16 bit era and completely captured fans with the variety of ending available to unlock.
Today the acclaimed game is available for the iPhone at a price of $9.99. Unlike many games that make the jump from the console to a touchscreen, 'Chrono Trigger' should be well adapted to the platform. After all, it was released on the DS recently, and offered a variety of touch-screen options.
You can pick up the game now on iTunes.

New 'Final Fantasy XIII-2' Trailer Reveals Improved Combat System
Thu Dec 01, 2011 at 11:30 AM ETTags: Final Fantasy XIII-2, Square Enix (all tags)
You'll find new ways to control Paradigms, instant changes and, unfortunately, quick time events.
'Final Fantasy XIII-2' is bringing a few very exciting changes with it. It's not going to completely change up the game like 'Final Fantasy X-2' did, but you'll find some tweaks here and there that shake things up a bit.
The newest trailer shows off enhancements to the already streamlined battle system which should add a bit more depth for players that crave it. You'll be able to change the party leader mid battle, which is a nice touch, but the most interesting bit is Paradigm Tune, which allows you to set up behaviors for characters before battles. It's a bit like the Gambit system from 'FF XII' but quite a bit simpler.
Not all changes are good changes though. The trailer ends with a look at what Square Enix is calling "Cinematic Action" but you'll know it better as the much lamented Quick-Time Event.

'Final Fantasy' Producer Aims for Quicker Development Cycles
Tue Nov 22, 2011 at 11:30 AM ETTags: Final Fantasy, Square Enix, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Industry Trends (all tags)
The company has learned from 'Final Fantasy XIII' and is planning to move quicker with new game development.
There are a few game companies out there that can get away with incredibly long development cycles and time between sequels. Nintendo and Blizzard are at the top of that list - a list that has, up until recently, included Square Enix.
'Final Fantasy' producer Yoshinori Kitase says those days are over. 'Final Fantasy XII' was released in 2009 - five years after the debut of the Xbox 360. "Personally," says Kitase, "I think we took a little too long getting it out."
Kitase looks to other AAA developers for an indicator of what works and says that a one to two year turnaround on games is a much better approach. 'Final Fantasy XIII-2' is hitting not much more than two years after the last installment and that's something that will become more common moving forward.

'Chrono Cross,' 'Final Fantasy V' and 'Final Fantasy VI' are Coming to PSN
Fri Nov 04, 2011 at 09:30 AM ETTags: PlayStation Network, Square Enix, Final Fantasy (all tags)
A trio of classic Squaresoft RPGs will be hitting PSN starting November 8th.
Square Enix is kicking off what they're calling the "Winter of RPGs." It's a promotion that brings three classic roleplaying games to PS3s and PSPs, starting November 8th with 'Chrono Cross,' the spiritual sequel to 'Chrono Trigger.'
On the 22nd, 'Final Fantasy' fans can get a fix of the first good 'Final Fantasy' game with a job class system - yes, 'Final Fantasy II' was that bad. 'Final Fantasy V' is coming just in time for you to spend Thanksgiving weekend playing it.
December 5th is the real treat. Arguably the best game in the series and certainly the top contender on most lists, 'Final Fantasy VI' will be hitting PSN.
Sony doesn't say which versions of the 'Final Fantasy' games we'll be getting, but it's pretty safe to assume they'll be the ones released for the original PlayStation.
