The 10-year gamble has seemingly paid off.
Square Enix has announced that the recently launched 'Final Fantasy XV' shipped over five million copies on launch day, including both physical and digital sales. Additionally, it has been announced that 'XV' is the fastest selling entry in the franchise to date. While exact sales numbers haven't been revealed, in Japan the game has the highest number of first-digital copies sold, while in Asia, it had the highest physical and digital first-day sales recorded for the franchise.
While I expect the game to be one of the most divisive entries in the series, I really have loved the 16 hours I've been able to put into it so far and I'm glad to see it doing well. The open-world aspects are genuinely extremely interesting, and the central cast of characters is fantastic. the studio will be focusing on DLC and other content for the game from here on out, and I'm excited to see what they do to expand an already massive game.
'Final Fantasy XV' is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
