Panasonic Creates World's Largest Plasma - 145 Inches

The massive size and 8K resolution earn Panasonic some serious bragging rights.

The folks over at Panasonic have revealed their newest record-setting creation – a 145" plasma with an 8K resolution. This thing is ridiculous.

Hideo Toyoda, managing director and CTO of AVC Networks Company at Panasonic says that the resolution is such that you'll think you're looking at reality. "It doesn't use 3D technology," he adds, "but the picture is so realistic, you feel truly immersed in the scene."

Panasonic will almost certainly tell you that the reason they create these stunning TVs is because they want to show off their abilities and show up their competitors. We're under the suspicion that they're doing it just to spite us. "Here's a TV that you want bad, but we'll totally never release it." Jerks. Ah well, we'd have to make some big adjustments to our living arrangements to fit the set in there anyway.

The Legend of Zelda Symphony is Coming to a Town Near You

Tags: Cool Stuff (all tags)

Assuming that you live in a place near a town to which the Legend of Zelda Symphony is coming.

Touring videogame music is something that's picked up over the last few years, though it's harder to do in the States than in countries like Japan which don't have the vast Midwest to cross on the way anywhere.

This summer, you'll be able to catch the Legend of Zelda Symphony of Goddesses, which recreates the music from 'Ocarina of Time,' 'The Wind Waker,' 'Twilight Princess' and 'A Link to the Past' as well as smaller bits from other titles.

What's unique about this particular game music show is that you're not going to see the usual presentation of one song at a time. The music is made into a symphony in four movements, combining songs from the series into several longer compositions.

Tickets are on sale now for newly added stops in L.A., Houston, San Diego, Philadelphia, Minneapolis and Vienna, Virginia. Check the schedule for the full list of stops, dates and locations. If you're a Club Nintendo member, you can get yourself a 15% discount.

Official 'Minecraft' LEGOs are On the Way

Tags: Minecraft, LEGOs, Cool Stuff (all tags)

The idea has passed through review and the project is now in the works.

If you're 'Minecraft' player, you've probably gotten there at some point. You've just created an absolutely stunning tower with an automatic crop harvester and a machine that lets you infinitely mine stone when you realize you haven't blinked in hours. It's time to get away from the computer.

Soon you won't have to give up your 'Minecraft' just because you've stepped away from the screen. 'Minecraft' LEGOs will provide you with that building fix you're looking for. "We're happy to announce that the Minecraft project on LEGO CUUSOO has passed the LEGO review and we are now developing a concept that celebrates the best aspects of building with the LEGO system and in Minecraft," says the CUUSOO blog.

CUUSOO is a program that's a bit like Kickstarter, but for LEGOs. In order to get an idea through to the LEGO review board, you need 10,000 supporters. Once you get that, the idea needs to be approved based on certain criteria. 'Minecraft' LEGOs have done both and a real product is on the way.

"We can’t wait to show it to you," reads the blog, "but it isn't ready just yet. These things take time, so we appreciate your patience. More details are to come."

Try These Six Game Themed Cocktails at your New Year's Party

Wed Dec 28, 2011 at 12:30 PM ET
Tags: Booze, Videogames, Cool Stuff (all tags)

They're painfully pun filled but delightfully booze filled.

Do you love videogames? Do you love drinking? Now you can do both! Okay, you could always drink while playing videogames but these game themed cocktails are still pretty sweet.

The Guardian UK put together a list of game themed cocktails courtesy of bartender James Dance and they're definitely good to go for your next party. They're all themed around the big games of 2011, both in ingredients and appearance.

The coolest among them are the 'Portal 2' themed orange and blue drinks and "Elderflower Scrolls: Skyyrum" which is themed completely around 'Skyrim' puns. You've got to hand it to them for that one.

If you're looking for flashy though, you'll want to go with "Uncharted 3: Drinks Deception." It's a drink that includes Goldschlager, ginger beer, overproof rum and - wait for it - fire. Light the shot, drop it into your ginger beer and drink. We're going to advise that this is a drink you make at the beginning of the night, what with the fire and all.
