The digitally animated movie features cameos from some of gaming's greatest.
Videogame movies are bad. There are a few exceptions like 'King of Kong,' but the rule tends to hold true. 'Wreck-It Ralph' may be the first major motion picture that actually gets it right.
The basic plot of the movie is that Wreck-It Ralph is sick of being a bad guy in videogames and decides to leave his game and go try and be a hero. It's a nice concept and there's plenty of talent behind it, including star John C. Reilly.
The trailer appeals directly to geeks, not just in that the movie is about a videogame character, but by showing a support group full of videogame villains from Nintendo, Sega, Capcom, and others. It's kind of like a 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' moment to see Dr. Eggman/ Robotnik sitting two seats down from Bowser, or to see Zangief in the same room as Kano from 'Mortal Kombat.'
