Soon to receive SteelBook editions in sparkly 4k Ultra HD video are some Marvel blockbusters both new and old, as well as Jordan Peele’s latest horror smash.

Jordan Peele has made quite the transition, from TV sketch comedian to big screen horror impresario. His doppelganger thriller has scored great reviews and big box office, albeit with a few complaints about the plot not entirely holding together.
Best Buy will carry a 4k SteelBook at some date still to be determined. The artwork is simple but classy. Zavvi also has a listing, but with only temp art at this time. It will probably wind up looking the same as the American copy.

It took more than ten years (and the success of DC’s Wonder Woman) for Marvel to finally put a woman out in front of one of its superhero epics, and look what happened. The movie’s a monster hit, closing in on $1 billion in ticket sales. Something tells me we’ll see more female superheroes in the future.
The artwork on Best Buy’s SteelBook seems a little uninspired. Again, the Zavvi version only has temp art, so we don’t yet know whether that will wind up being any different. (Sometimes Zavvi gets its own unique SteelBooks for Marvel films, sometimes not.) Sadly, Zavvi’s SteelBook for the 3D edition has already sold out.
If this doesn’t do anything for you, fear not. It’s a near certainty that Marvel will reissue the movie in another SteelBook sooner or later.
Case in point: Remastering its old movies into 4k HDR provides Marvel with a convenient excuse to sell them all over again. Part of that process is new SteelBooks for the collectors. The new metal cases for Captain America parts 2 and 3 follows the same theme as the Ultra HD for the first one. I already have the original Blu-ray SteelBooks for both movies and am not inclined to upgrade just for different art.

I’m sure I’ve said this before, but I’ve been waiting a while for Marvel to reissue the first Thor. That’s the only of the studio’s movies I missed out on a SteelBook for.

If there’s one thing I hate about the Marvel advertising machine, is the need to almost always show actor’s pretty faces instead of proper full costumes. Everyone knows it’s Robert Downet Jr. They should reserve the steelbooks or one of the alternate versions with the comic book look and use the actor face for another.

AuthorTo be fair, the Captain Marvel SteelBook barely shows the character’s face on the front cover, and the prior SteelBooks for these two Captain America movies weren’t really actor vanity shots either.

In fact, the initial SteelBooks for a lot of Marvel movies often try to go for something clever or gimmicky rather than a close-up of the actor’s face (Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc.).
