Last month, we had a Roundtable about movies that would be inappropriate to convert to 3D. This week, we bring you a similar topic. As much as the videogame industry loves to license movie titles for the easy brand name recognition, some movies should really never, ever be turned into tie-in games. Here are some of the worst ideas we could imagine.
At this point, the prospects of another ‘X-Files’ movie seem pretty remote. Fans continue to cross their fingers and hope that one day Fox will shell out the money for a full high-definition reconstruction (a la what CBS is doing for ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’) and Blu-ray release of the TV series. Whether that will ever happen is anyone’s guess. In the meantime, we have only the Blu-ray releases of the two feature films to content ourselves with. However much of an intersection there may be between ‘X-Files’ fans and SteelBook collectors, UK retailer Zavvi hopes to serve that niche with a metal case repackaging of the movie double-bill.

Here’s a conundrum for you: If the whole point of SteelBook packaging is to offer fans an aesthetically pleasing collectible to display on their movie shelves, then why, pray tell, would a studio like Universal release a whole wave of Blu-ray SteelBooks with butt-ugly artwork on them? Somebody please explain this to me.
