It plays video files, streams Netflix and is available a few days before the expected release date.

If you've been looking for a cheap media player that handles all the basics, you may want to take a look at the NexTV VMP75, which was made available today, just a few days before the anticipated July 19th release date.

It was available on Amazon earlier today, but it's recently been updated to a preorder. We spoke with NewEgg customer service though, and they assured us that the item available for shipping now.

It's got Netflix capabilities baked right in, but it also handles a full range of video, audio and picture formats. You can stream MPEG, DivX, XviD, MKV, FLV and a variety of other video files from your networked computer, or simply play them from a USB storage device.

The NexTV VMP75 is no slouch on the audio side. It handles the usuals, like MP3 and AAC, as well as a few others like FLAC, Dolby Digital, and DTS. It's also compatible with the full range of picture files such as JPEG, GIF, PNG and TIFF. It's even subtitle compatible.

The one thing it doesn't do out of the box is network wirelessly. You can pick up a WiFi adapter, but if you don't, you'll need to plug it in if you want to stream.

Xpike's New CinemaGo is an Inexpensive and Portable Digital Media Player

At $109 it may be the best player at the price-point.

The CinemaGo is the follow-up to brite-View's CinemaTube media player. It keeps the functionality of the original, but shrinks everything down to a nice portable size at a nice affordable price point.

Also known as the BV-5005HD Mini CG, the CinemaGo carries a few improvements as well. It still has USB ports on the front, but an eSATA interface has been added to the back for even faster transfer speeds. That's especially important when you're taking advantage of the device's torrent download feature or watching a Blu-ray backup.

Another addition is access to MUZEE internet radio, which gives you access to thousands of stations streaming across the web. If you're traveling and you still want to hear your favorite morning show, the CinemaGo can make it happen.

"A good digital media player can transform your TV into an entertainment hub," says Xpike's Robert Lo. "The CinemaGo does exactly that, and has the potential to do much more."

You can pre-order the CinemGo now from Amazon for a price of $109.99.

ViewSonics' NexTV VMP75 is a Media Player and Web Browser in One

But before you get too excited, it doesn't handle Flash.

Network media players must be cheap and easy to build; they're coming out at an impressive rate. Viewsonic's NexTV VMP75 doesn't exactly offer anything new, but it can do just about everything you need it to.

For starters, you can play just about any movie file you've got with it. It handles H.264, AVI, MKV and DivX, and a range of audio files as well. And you can get that content from any networked device in the house, or through an attached storage device.

The VMP75 plays back files in 1080p, and offers an HDMI port to hook right in to your television. But of course, you can send audio out through the S/PDIF optical port as well.

There's no WiFi capability built in to the NexTV, so you'll have to plug it in via Ethernet, unless you pick up the optional adapter.

It streams from the net too. Netflix is at the top of the list, but you can also get content from YouTube, Live365.com, SHOUTcast Radio and more. You can even browse the net, but sadly there's no flash capability.

The NexTV VMP75 is up for pre-order on Amazon now at a price of $129.
