'Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West' Announced for Blu-ray

The 2002 historical short will be discovered on Blu-ray in September.
In an early announcement to retailers, National Geographic has just announced 'Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West' for a Blu-ray release on September 13.
Relive an amazing tale of discovery and exploration in Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West, as National Geographic brings to life the first crossing of what would become the United States. With careful research and meticulous re-creations, this expedition comes to life for the first time in stunning high-definition.
Two hundred years after their epic journey, go back in time with Lewis, Clark, their guide Sacagawea, and the brave Corps of Discovery as they discover the adventure, danger, and beauty of the unmapped West.
Specs haven't been confirmed yet, but supplements will include a making-of featurette and an interactive trail map.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $29.99.

'Great Migrations' Announced for Blu-ray

Join millions of animals in their treks to preserve their species on Blu-ray this November.
In an early announcement to retailers, National Geographic has just revealed 'Great Migrations' will have a Blu-ray release on November 16.
Three years in the making, the documentary features breathtaking nature footage from around the globe by award-winning cinematographers and is narrated by Alec Baldwin.
Specs and supplements haven't been confirmed yet, but the release appears to be a 2-disc set.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $49.98.

'Darwin's Darkest Hour' on Blu-ray

National Geographic and Warner will be releasing the TV drama 'Darwin's Darkest Hour' on Blu-ray this November.
The made-for-TV drama stars Henry Ian Cusick ('LOST') and Frances O'Connor and will be available in high-definition on November 17.
The Blu-ray disc will feature 1080p video, Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, and supplements will include a behind-the-scenes featurette and 'The Galapagos Islands.'
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is unknown at this time.

National Geographic and Warner are releasing the documentary set 'National Geographic Ultimate High Definition Collection' on Blu-ray this September.
The 6-disc set will be available on September 29 and include: 'Atmospheres: Earth, Air & Water,' 'Relentless Enemies,' 'Kingdom of the Blue Whale,' 'Rhino Rescue,' 'Extreme,' 'Journey to the Edge of the Universe.'
Specs include 1080p video, Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.
There is no word on extras as of yet (if any) but we’ll make sure to keep you posted.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is still TBA.

'Sea Monsters' Goes 3-D with Blu-ray Re-Issue

'Sea Monsters' is going 3-D, with Warner announcing a Blu-ray re-issue of the IMAX animated adventure due mid-August.
Originally released in a 2-D-only version on Blu-ray in June 2008, National Geographic (via Warner Home Video) will return to the high-def well with 'Sea Monsters' due August 11 (day-and-date with the standard DVD).
Containing both 2-D and first-ever 3-D versions (along with four pairs of glasses), 'Sea Monsters 3-D' will be presented in a BD-50 dual-layer disc in 1080p/VC-1 video (1.78:1) and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio.
As with the previous Blu-ray, there are no announced supplements
Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $35.98.

National Geographic has announced a late-March Blu-ray debut for the undersea documentary 'Kingdom of the Blue Whale.'
Documenting an expedition to uncover the secrets of the blue whale, 'National Geographic: Kingdom of the Blue Whale' uses high-def and satellite technology to tag and identify different whale species and gender-related behavior.
Distributed via Warner Home Video 'Kingdom of the Blue Whale' will debut on Blu-ray March 31, day-and-date with the standard DVD.
Tech details for the high-def version include a BD-25 single-layer presentation, with 1080p/VC-1 video and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio and subtitles (in English, French and Spanish).

National Geographic has announced a late-March Blu-ray debut for the space exploration documentary 'Journey to the Edge of the Universe.'
Building on images taken from the Hubble telescope, 'Journey to the Edge of the Universe' recreates the first accurate non-stop voyage from Earth to the edge of the Universe through the use of spectacular CGI technology, and explores the science and history behind the distant celestial bodies in the solar system.
Distributed via Warner Home Video 'Journey to the Edge of the Universe' will debut on Blu-ray March 31, day-and-date with the standard DVD.
