Imprint Films Reveals a Quartet of 4K UHD Limited Editions Arriving this NovemberThe Australian distributor is preparing 4K UHD limited edition releases of Sam Peckinpah's Convoy (1978), Richard Attenborough's A Bridge Too Far (1977), Stephan Elliott's The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994), and The NeverEnding Story (1984) - which will be arriving on November 27. Throughout the week Australia's Via Vision Entertainment's Imprint Films label has been teasing physical media collectors with new announcements, one day at a time. We now have the full list and it's a collection of heavy hitters and fan favorites to make space for! Convoy - 4K UHD Imprint Films Limited Edition (Australian Import) Convoy (1978) Imprint Collection #368 Make way for Sam Peckinpah’s 1978 action-comedy, now roaring onto 4K UHD in a NEW 4K restoration. Kris Kristofferson stars as Martin ‘Rubber Duck’ Penwald, forced to go on the run after an encounter with corrupt Sheriff 'Dirty' Lyle Wallace (Ernest Borgnine). As other truckers hear the news, the decision is made to form a mile-long ‘convoy’, to take a stand against the abusive sheriff and the problematic 55mp/h speed limit. Teeming with explosive cargo, a highly public standoff escalates to a point of no return… Also starring Ali MacGraw, Burt Young, Franklyn Ajaye and Madge Sinclair, this thrilling film was Peckinpah’s most commercially successful venture. Although Peckinpah's rough cut was rejected by EMI and is now lost, we are proud to include a 115 minute Extended Cut on a bonus Blu-ray disc in our release, featuring five extra minutes of footage. Our strictly Limited Edition 3-Disc Hardbox is jam-packed with brand NEW Special Features that delve into the history of this classic piece of film history with Peckinpah scholar Mike Siegel and expert contributors. “Back in 1978, CONVOY was the very first Peckinpah film I ever saw, hence I have a soft spot in my heart for it. It was a very troubled production which gave me the opportunity to create hours of supplements to preserve its chaotic, interesting and even entertaining backstory for future generations. With the new 4K restoration, the extra footage and new supplements, this will be the ultimate home video release for CONVOY, for all time.” - Mike Siegel A Bridge Too Far - 4K UHD Imprint Films Limited Edition (Australian Import) A Bridge Too Far (1977) Imprint Collection #367 “We’re going to fly thirty-five thousand men three hundred miles and drop them behind enemy lines. It’ll be the largest airborne operation ever mounted.” To commemorate the 80th Anniversary of infamous World War II mission ‘Operation Market Garden’ (September 1944), we are proud to announce the newly scanned and restored 4K UHD release of Richard Attenborough’s 1977 epic, A BRIDGE TOO FAR. Shot on location in the Netherlands, this BAFTA-winning film is one of the great WWII epics, based on the book by Cornelius Ryan, and assembled an enormous league of screen legends: Dirk Bogarde, James Caan, Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Elliott Gould, Edward Fox, Gene Hackman, Anthony Hopkins, Laurence Olivier, Ryan O’Neal, Robert Redford, and Liv Ullmann. This brand NEW 4K Dolby Vision restoration comes loaded with brand NEW and archival Special Features, and is housed in a strictly Limited Edition 3-Disc Hardbox with an exclusive booklet. The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - 4K UHD Imprint Films Limited Edition (Australian Import) The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) Imprint Collection #366 Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the iconic Australian musical comedy, now making its worldwide debut on 4K UHD with Dolby Vision, fully restored by Imprint Films, supervised by director Stephan Elliott. They came. They conquered. They looked fabulous. This colourful, moving extravaganza was a box-office smash, starring Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving, and Guy Pearce, as three drag performers braving the vast, rugged Australian outback. An Academy Award winner for Costume Design, Priscilla is a hilarious, glittery classic, filled with iconic pop hits from the Village People, ABBA, Gloria Gaynor and many more. Limited Edition 4K UHD & Blu-ray 3-Disc 3D Lenticular Hardbox with art cards and booklet, plus hours of Special Features - including brand NEW Interviews, the 2015 feature documentary Between a Frock and a Hard Place, and hours of archival featurettes. The X Trilogy Concludes with Ty West and Mia Goth's 'MaXXXine' on 4K UHD & Blu-ray October 8th!Ty West and Mia Goth's 80s-infused horror trilogy capper MaXXXine brings the bloody carnage home to 4K UHD and Blu-ray from Lionsgate. Unlike X and Pearl, we actually get a 4K disc right out of the gate featuring Dolby Vision HDR and Atmos audio. You gotta love it when lightning strikes and someone manages to capture that bolt of inspiration and bottle it. Ty West and Mia Goth struck Horror fans hard with the back-to-back punch of X and Pearl. At long last the wait for MaXXXine is over. My initial reaction to seeing the film was muted, almost disappointed, but after a second run I clicked with the kitschy 80s glitz and glam of Hollywood and its seedy underbelly. Now it's coming to home video and we can take another stab at this concluding chapter. Thankfully this time we won't have to import it from Germany to get a 4K disc - but to be honest if Capelight or Turbine offer a Mediabook 4K, I'd be hard-pressed not to grab it just for the sake that's how I own the other two films (gotta have uniformity in the franchise, you know?) Here's what's coming our way: MaXXXine - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray MaXXXine - Blu-ray And here's a look at the Walmart-Exclusive Blu-ray (why a Blu-ray exclusive is beyond me but it is) MaXXXine - Walmart Exclusive Blu-ray Pre-orders are live for all three domestic editions. We'll keep our eyes open on the foreign markets for any notable editions there. I also wouldn't put it past A24 doing their own store-exclusive 4K Trilogy set, but we'll see what comes. Here's all of the gory details OFFICIAL SYNOPSISIn 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. Many years after the bloody turf war that ushered in an uneasy era of peace in Hong Kong’s underworld, the notorious Kowloon Walled City serves as a fortified, lawless safe haven for gangs and refugees alike. It's A 4K Shyamalan Halloween with 'The Sixth Sense' and 'Signs' on 4K UHD October 22ndRemember when M. Night Shyamalan was churning out one high-concept box office hit after another? It may seem like a long time ago, but his earliest films remain his best - and now The Sixth Sense and Signs are coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 22nd! I was just beginning to wonder if we'd heard the last of the big October spooky season Halloween horror titles for 2024. Not that I was complaining about what was previously announced, but the news that Signs and The Sixth Sense will be coming to 4K after languishing on ancient Blu-ray discs is a very welcome update! According to the Press release, both films have been fully restored for 4K in HDR (they didn't specify grade, so presumably HDR10 only), but the great news is both films will drop on BD-100 discs - an elusive feature for Disney-owned titles. Both films will sport DTS-HD MA 5.1 tracks, no Atmos upgrades, and we don't have details for bonus features, but these are very exciting releases timed to drop just a couple of weeks before Shyamalan's latest thriller Trap is due to drop on disc! The Sixth Sense - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Hollywood superstar Bruce Willis brings a powerful presence to an edge-of-your-seat thriller from writer-director M. Night Shyamalan (Oscar®-nominee for Best Original Screenplay and Best Director) that critics are calling one of the greatest ghost stories ever filmed. When Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Willis), a distinguished child psychologist, meets Cole Sear (Oscar® -nominee Haley Joel Osment, Best Supporting Actor), a frightened, confused, eight-year-old, Dr. Crowe is completely unprepared to face the truth of what haunts Cole. With a riveting intensity you'll find thoroughly chilling, the discovery of Cole's incredible sixth sense leads them to mysterious places with unforgettable consequences!Product SpecificationsStreet DateDigital: August 27, 2024Physical: October 22, 2024 Product SKUsDigital: 4K UHDPhysical: 4K UHD + Blu-ray + Digital Code (US), 4K UHD + Blu-ray (CA) Total Run TimeApprox. 107 minutes Aspect RatioPhysical: 1.85:1 Disc Size4K UHD Blu-ray: 100GBBlu-ray: 50GB U.S. Audio4K Ultra HD: English 5.1 DTS-HDMA and 2.0 Dolby Digital Descriptive Audio, French 5.1 Dolby Digital, Spanish 2.0 Dolby DigitalBlu-ray: English 5.1 Uncompressed (48 kHz/16-bit), English And French 5.1 Dolby Digital, Spanish 2.0 Dolby Digital U.S. Subtitles4K Ultra HD: English SDH, Spanish, FrenchBlu-ray: English SDH, Spanish, French Signs - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray From writer/director M. Night Shyamalan, comes the story of the Hess family in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, who wake up one morning to find a 500-foot crop circle in their backyard. Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) and his family are told extraterrestrials are responsible for the sign in their field. They watch, with growing dread, the news of crop circles being found all over the world. Kingdom Of The Video Discs - HDD's 4K UHD & Blu-ray Shopping Guide, August 26, 2024Among all the doom and gloom talk on how "streaming has replaced disc", this week again offers up a huge selection of physical titles to pick from, both in the 4K and blu-ray categories, so that statement that doesn't exactly ring as entirely true. Welcome to Volume 5 Episode 13 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of August 25th - August 31st, as well as a look at announcements from last week. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases- Import Monday begins with a couple of boutique label releases. First from 88 Films, Jet Li action/thriller The Bodyguard from Beijing. And next, from Arrow Films UK, The Silence of the Lambs. This one also has an Arrow UK Store exclusive cover. Both editions come with a little bit of swag as well. Moving on to Domestic Tuesday, Warner Bros starts out in the New Releases section. Produced by M. Night Shyamalan and directed by Ishana Shyamalan comes the suspense/thriller The Watchers. From DC Animation and Warner Bros, a similarly named title as our domestic opener, Watchmen Chapter 1. But that's were the similarities end. Next up from 20th Century Studios, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which comes as a Standard Edition and as a Limited Edition SteelBook. The frustration remains as, if there was a film that needs to break away from their standard BD66 HDR10 mold, it's this one, which runs 145 minutes for starters. And has a Dolby Vision release out there ever been worse than HDR10? Moving to catalog releases, this week is pretty big for Arrow Video, who frequently only has one title on any given week. Double Feature The Woman & Offspring, which offers both films in 4K. Next up, a triple feature, The Mexico Trilogy: El Mariachi, Desperado & Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Note: Only Desperado is presented in 4K. And speaking of Desperado, it is also available as a Limited SteelBook. Amazon seems to still not have that listing up, so we have a Walmart link in its place. Just like Arrow Video, Criterion has more than one release this week. Both of them are comedies and both are directed by Albert Brooks. The two films are Mother (1996) and Real Life. Kino Lorber has a trio of titles this week. First a pair of French cinema releases, award winning drama/romance Last Year at Marienbad and Jean-Luc Godard’s sci-fi-noir classic Alphaville. And of course a film that really needs no introduction, JCVD's Sudden Death. Warner Bros wants us to Focus on a film with Will Smith. Note: There is no digital code with this one. On a week with lots of titles and where one has to weigh the pros and cons, that might be a con to some. From Shout! Factory, Poltergeist II: The Other Side. Warner Bros of course released the original film that started it all to disc a few months back. Those that imported this one after seeing multiple editions and waiting for what seemed like forever, Sony Pictures now offers Drive, in a Limited SteelBook. NOPE, not the Morgan Freeman film, Italian film High Crime (not plural) comes via Blue Underground. Severin Films releases Castle of Blood to general special edition disc this week. Vinegar Syndrome distributed standard editions (via Amazon US) this week are Reptilicus and Goin' South, and their August Limited Edition titles only available direct are Devil Times Five and Thieves Like Us. Standard editions usually follow in a month or so. Former Paramount Presents title Double Jeopardy gets a standard release this week. On to double-dips of sort. Joker (2019) gets a Walmart Exclusive SteelBook. Classic Movie Monster films Dracula and Frankenstein get different, more classic cover art SteelBooks from Universal. These do not appear to be Walmart Exclusives, but the only place to apparently get them is from Walmart. Yup, call me confused a little. Next week gives us a chance to recharge our wallets just a little bit. Blu-ray releases- Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases, both imports (likely region B locked) for The Bodyguard from Beijing and The Silence of the Lambs, and domestic region A (or region free) releases of The Watchers, Watchmen Chapter 1, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Mother (1996), Real Life, High Crime and Castle of Blood. As with the 4K category, the blu-ray category this week is absolutely monstrous. There are close to 100 titles this week. Excluding the boutique label site exclusives, it is still pretty busy. In a classic, announce it literally the week before street date, The Garfield Movie comes to blu-ray this week from Sony Pictures. I know there are some that might ask where the 4K is, and I am probably right there with you. Anime highlights include Am I Actually the Strongest? - The Complete Season, Berserk - The Golden Age Arc - Blu-ray - Memorial Edition, Feast of Amrita, Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku: Season 1, which is also available as an Amazon Exclusive Limited Edition and My Hero Academia: Season 6 Part 2, which is also available as a Limited Edition. TV on disc this week, The Alaskans: The Complete Series (1959-60)(maybe), Pee-wee's Playhouse: The Complete Series, which is also available as a Shout Exclusive Deluxe Edition, Resident Alien: Season Three, Sonic Prime: Season Two, Star Trek: Discovery - The Final Season, also available as a Limited Edition SteelBook, Star Trek: Discovery - The Complete Series and Vikings: Valhalla: Season One. I insert the maybe on The Alaskans because a bunch of their titles have changed dates after the last second. You read that right, I said AFTER the last second. BBC documentary Mammals, narrated by Sir David Attenborough is available Tuesday. Previously available from Shout! Factory, but now part of Kino Lorber's Cult Series, this week the next 5 are available, Empire of the Ants, Frogs, The Food of the Gods, Kingdom of the Spiders and Squirm. Notable announcements from last week: Lots of onesie twosie announcements. First, (and you know how much I love these sets) Second Sight UK has a couple more Limited Edition swag-filled releases to mention for the fall. Late Night With the Devil will be getting a 4K release, and The Blair Witch Project a limited edition blu-ray. The latter of course will be region B locked. If you have followed my comments, you know that I often times express frustration that the studios seem to have it in for the US market, in that they seem to releases these gorgeous gift sets anywhere but here. Warner Bros will be releasing a swag-filled set for Wizard of Oz on November 5th. Maybe not the most elaborate gift set out there, it is still quite nice. Severin Films has revealed their next folk horror set, All The Haunts Be Ours: A Compendium Of Folk Horror Volume 2 will be coming October 15th. There are many more smaller titles to announce, and by the time you read this, Vinegar Syndrome will also have revealed their September batch. 4K Release Calendar 2K/BD Release Calendar Which titles are you buying this week? Which ones are on your wishlist, be it to buy as an impulse buy or to wait for the right price?Posted Mon Aug 26, 2024 at 06:00 AM PDT by: -

The 2017 remaster used an 8K 16bit scan of the original Technicolor camera negative which became the basis for the 4K UHD scan. The process was overseen by MPI colorist Janet Wilson, who oversaw every remaster of The Wizard of Oz for the past 20 years. Adapted from L. Frank Baum’s timeless children’s tale about a Kansas girl’s journey over the rainbow, The Wizard of Oz officially premiered at Grauman’s Chinese Theater on August 15, 1939. The film was directed by Victor Fleming (who that same year directed Gone With the Wind), produced by Mervyn LeRoy, and scored by Herbert Stothart, with music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg. Ray Bolger appeared as the Scarecrow; Bert Lahr as the Cowardly Lion, Jack Haley as the Tin Woodman. Frank Morgan was seen in six different roles, including that of the "wonderful Wizard" himself. Dorothy was portrayed by a 4'11" sixteen-year-old girl who quickly earned her reputation as “the world’s greatest entertainer”-- the incomparable Judy Garland. Pre-Orders are now available.. This mega collection includes 13 discs and a hardcover book featuring an assortment of 24 horror films from around the world. “The first ALL THE HAUNTS... was an incredibly ambitious set, but for this collection we wanted to go a bit further afield,” says producer Kier-La Janisse. “I’m really happy with the broad range of regions and perspectives we were able to include, and the many international collaborators who made it all possible. We’re enormously proud to unleash its spirit upon the world.” Unquiet spirits have gathered once again: ALL THE HAUNTS BE OURS – VOLUME TWO brings together 24 films representing 18 countries for more of the best-loved, rarely seen, thought-lost and brand-new classics of folk horror, most making their International and/or North American disc debuts including the Worldwide Premieres of the Severin Films productions TO FIRE YOU COME AT LAST directed by Sean Hogan and the documentary SUZZANNA: THE QUEEN OF BLACK MAGIC directed by David Gregory; 55+ combined hours of new and archival Special Features including trailers, interviews, audio commentaries, short films, video essays, historical analyses and bonus feature-length films; a 252-page hardcover of newly commissioned folk horror fiction by luminaries that include Ramsey Campbell, Cassandra Khaw and Eden Royce with illustrations by Drazen Kozjan; and much more, all curated and produced by WOODLANDS DARK AND DAYS BEWITCHED creator Kier-La Janisse.
