NAD Releases New Receivers and Preamp/Processor
Wed Mar 28, 2012 at 12:00 PM ETTags: NAD, Receivers, Preamps (all tags)
Each of the components uses Modular Design Construction and focuses on making music sound the very best that it can.
The folks at NAD make receivers that are good for every purpose you can put a receiver to, but that doesn't mean they're generalists. You can watch movies and TV, but the primary focus of NAD's receivers and preamps is to make your music sound better than it ever has before.
Their $3,000 T 777 and $4,000 T 787 receivers achieve this by including a 24-bit/192kHz Burr Brown DAC and multiple high-power DSPs for optimal audio. You'll also find the EARS (Enhanced Ambience Retrieval System) mode which adds a bit of spacial ambience to stereo tracks.
The T 187 is the latest preamp/processor from the company and comes in at $3,000. Like the 777 and 787 it employs the Burr Brown DAC and the EARS audio system. It also gives you seven HDMI inputs, IP control, IR outputs, 12v triggers and an RS-232 port.

Pass Labs Launches a Preamp and a Pair of Mono Amplifiers
Tue Jan 24, 2012 at 12:00 PM ETTags: Preamps (all tags)
The preamp is the new flagship of the line, while the mono amps are designed to replace older generation models.
Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and the rest of the usual suspects have gone a bit quiet in the wake of CES, leaving room for high-end and luxury manufacturers to present their wares. Among them is Pass Labs, which has three new products for perusing.
The XP-30 is the latest in the company's celebrated XP line of preamplifiers. It's a modular amplifier that comes in three separate pieces - a power supply, a control chassis and a gain chassis. The XP-30 offers 99 volume steps, six inputs, four outputs and will be available in August for $16,500.
The Xs-150 and Xs-300 are a pair of mono power amplifiers which offer 150 and 300 watts of power respectively. They've been in development for three years and have been loaded with redundantly parallel rectifiers, separate chassis for the power supplies and larger transformers that are, at the same time, quieter transformers. The Xs-150 will be hitting at $65,000 a pair while the 300 comes in at $85,000 a pair.

Sherbourn Announces a New Preamp/Processor and Amplifier
Thu Sep 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM ETTags: Sherbourn, Preamps, Amplifiers (all tags)
Both are made for the high-end custom installer and are decked out with impressive features.
Sherbourn's newest amplifier, the PA-7350, delivers a whopping 350 watts of power across seven channels. It offers a variety of inputs and outputs, including XLR, and Sherbourn assures that it delivers clean, uncolored power and will do so for years to come thanks to the "Soft Switch" Class H power supply.
The new preamp/processor is just as impressive, offering Control4 and Ethernet control options and an impressive array of hardware. It boasts twin Cirrus 32-bit dual core DSPs that handle audio and provide 192kHz performance. It also boasts a Genesis/Torino 10-bit scaling engine for video.
Both the PA-7350 amplifier and PT-7020C4 preamplifier/processor have a release date and price that are yet to be announced.

McIntosh Launches New Amps and Preamps
Thu Oct 07, 2010 at 02:00 PM ETTags: McIntosh, Amps, Preamps (all tags)
They’ve got a classic look and an impressive set of features.
There's something to be said about the look of a McIntosh component. They're not sleek and minimalist like most amps these days, but they still manage to give off the feeling of high-end high-quality gear.
The MC452 and MC302 are the newest amplifiers from McIntosh and were designed to be the best of the best. Both utilize the Autoformer, which allows them to mate with any loudspeaker and both boast oversized transformers in encapsulated aluminum enclosures. The MC302 pushes out 300 watts per channel while the MC452 can output 450.
When it comes to preamplifiers, McIntosh wants you to think of the C48 and C50 as the top of the line. They boast 32 bit/195kHz digital to analog conversion which re-samples all digital data up to that standard. They boast a wide range of inputs, the ability to stream music from a PC, and a separation in circuitry that eliminates interference.
