Samsung Announces Three Blu-ray Home Theater In A Box Systems

Samsung has announced three new home theaters in a box (HTiB) equipped with Blu-Ray, and has lowered the price from their previous models to start at $549.
The HT-BD1250 is the entry-level, $549 HTiB. It features a 5.1 channel system, and has begun shipping this month.
The HT-BD8100 retails at $799, and is the first sound bar device in the industry to embed a Blu-Ray player. It offers virtual surround sound and the ability to mount into a wall, and will ship in July.
The third system is the HT-BD7200, retailing at $799. It features virtual surround sound and 2.1 speakers, and will ship in June.
These three HTiBs are all capable of decoding Blu-Ray surround sound, displaying BD-Live content, and can access services like NetFlix and Pandora. They can also access content from a synced PC, such as music and video streaming, and two of them (the HT-BD1250 and HT-BD7200) are designated as “Works with iPhone”.

Yamaha boxes up four new home theater setups

Four new “Home theaters in a box” have been added to Yamaha’s line of AV receivers and speakers
The new offerings include: the YHT-791, YHT-591, YHT-491 (SRP: $549.95) and YHT-391. (SRP: $399.95).
All four of these systems include SCENE functions for easy setup – users can press four buttons to power the units up, and quickly select the inputs and surround sound configurations. They use a Compressed Audio Enhancer to improve sound quality of compressed music files and with additional components, they are compatible with Yamaha’s iPod Dock (included with the YHT-791) and Bluetooth devices.
The YHT-791 (SRP: $849.95) and YHT-591 (SRP: $649.95) are designed to compliment home theaters looking for the full HD experience, including Blu-Ray players, gaming consoles and HD broadcasts. They offer internal decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MasterAudio, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio. The YHT-791 is a 7.1 channel device, with a 100W powered subwoofer and four HDMI inputs. It can also upscale analog video to 1080p, and produce matching sound and video output using Auto Lip-Sync technology.
The YHT-591 is a 5.1 channel device, featuring a 10-inch 100W subwoofer, two-way surround speakers, three-way bass reflex speakers, and a 5-channel A/V receiver. The YHT-491 features a five channel A/V receiver, two bass reflex tower speakers, two-way acoustic suspension center, two-way bass surround speakers and an 8-inch 100W subwoofer. The YHT-391 is the entry-level device. It includes a five channel A/V receiver, and 8-inch 100W subwoofer and five two-way acoustic suspension satellite speakers.

Panasonic Announces Blu-ray Home Theater Systems

Panasonic has announced two new Blu-ray Home Theater in a Box (HTiB) setups that will not only replace its previous model by April or May, but retail for less.
The two models are the 1,000-watt SC-BT200 (SRP $599) and 1,250-watt SC-BT300 (SRP $699). Both have a 7.1-channel speaker system and the capability to decode all authorized Blu-Ray surround systems. They are greatly improved over their predecessor SC-BT100, however, in that they are BD-Live compatible and include the Viera Cast service via the internet, which allows for streaming videos from Youtube, Amazon.com, Bloomberg News financial information and more.
Other features included in both of these HTiBs are an SD Card slot, playback capabilities for AVC HD camera files, and slide-out iPod dock. The SC-BT200 comes with 2 left-right tower speakers, a small center channel and surrounds. The SC-BT300 comes with 7 mid-sized speakers. The surround speakers from both of these HTiB are wireless-ready, although neither comes with wireless speakers.
