Joining the list of already announced high-def disc-related sessions planned for this year's Comic-Con, Lionsgate and Marvel Comics say they will screen the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Doctor Strange' for convention attendees.

Although the new direct-to-disc animated adventure from Marvel and Lionsgate isn't due to hit store shelves until August 14th, both companies have arranged a sneak peek for Comic-Con attendees on Friday July 27th.

As we've previously reported, 'Dr. Strange' is Lionsgate's second direct-to-disc Blu-ray release in cooperation with Marvel Comics, following 'The Ultimate Avengers Collection,' which was released to strong sales earlier this year.

According to a recent post on Marvel.com, the entire 95 minute feature will be shown on the big screen at Comic-Con, followed by a Q&A with the film's Supervising Director/Producer Frank Paur and Writer Greg Johnson.

Lionsgate and Marvel have also revealed additional specs for the Blu-ray edition of 'Dr. Strange,' which is now set to include English 7.1 DTS HD Master Audio and 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround EX Audio tracks, plus a wealth of supplements, including three featurettes, concept art and a trailer gallery.

'TMNT' Ninja Turtle Redux to Hit Blu-ray, HD DVD This August

(Editor's Note: In our initial post of this story, we incorrectly identified the release date of 'TMNT' as August 8, not August 7. We apologize for the error.)

Get ready for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to hit high-def this summer, when Warner Home Video debuts the big-screen redux 'TMNT' on Blu-ray and HD DVD.

An all-CGI animated retooling of the live-action 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle' trilogy that scored big in the early '90s, 'TMNT' opened to a strong $24 million take at the box office this past February, but quickly wilted with a worldwide gross of barely $85 million.

Warner hopes to reverse the Turtles' fortunes when it gives the film a simultaneous bow on Blu-ray, HD DVD and standard-def DVD on August 7.

No specs have yet been announced, but Warner is billing the releases as special editions, so we look forward to significant bonus materials.

List price will be $34.95 for the Blu-ray version, and $39.98 for the HD DVD, which will be a combo platter.

We've added preliminary listings for 'TMNT' to our Blu-ray Release Schedule and HD DVD Release Schedule, under August 7. Stay tuned for full specs to be announced in the coming days.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment will bring another classic Marvel superhero to high-def, with the Blu-ray release of the direct-to-video animated film 'Dr. Strange' this August.

Arriving in stores August 14, the studio has not yet announced specs for the 83-minute, direct-to-video premiere.

However, the set is billed as a special edition, so we can expect a healthy batch of supplemental features when the disc arrives.

Lionsgate has set a suggested list price of $29.95 for the release.

'Dr. Strange' also follows Lionsgate's Blu-ray success with 'The Ultimate Avengers Collection,' which the studio released to strong sales earlier this year (click here to read our full review of 'Ultimate Avengers').

We've added a fresh listing for 'Dr. Strange' to our Blu-ray Release Schedule, under August 14. Stay tuned for full specs in the days ahead.

In the first double feature release to hit a next-gen format, Lionsgate will bring the direct-to-video 'Ultimate Avengers' and its sequel 'Ultimate Avengers 2' to Blu-ray on April 24.

Dubbed the 'Ultimate Avengers Collection,' both full-length features will come packaged on a single BD-50 dual-layer disc. Tech specs include 1.78:1 widescreen 1080p video transfers (no codec info yet), plus Dolby Digital Surround EX tracks.

Lionsgate will also port over a wealth of bonus features originally seen on the standard-def DVD versions of the series, including the "The Ultimates," "Avengers Assemble" and "The Ultimate Voice Talent Search" featurettes, trivia tracks for each film, a trailer gallery and special preview of the direct-to-video "Doctor Strange" movie.

Lionsgate has set a very reasonable $39.95 list price for the double feature.

We've added the latest specs for 'Ultimate Avengers Collection' to our Blu-ray Release Schedule.
