Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, isolated from society, a devoted father (Viggo Mortensen) dedicates his life to transforming his six young children into extraordinary adults. But when a tragedy strikes the family, they are forced to leave this self-created paradise and begin a journey into the outside world that challenges his idea of what it means to be a parent and brings into question everything he's taught them. Keegan-Michael Key & Cobie Smulders Set to Star in New Netflix Series 'Friends from College'[teaser]The upcoming series comes from Writer/Director Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco. [/teaser] Netflix has announced its latest original show, 'Friends from College.' The eight-episode comedy series will be executive produced by the husband and wife team of Nick Stoller ('Neighbors,' 'Neighbors: Sorority Rising,' 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall,' 'Get Him to the Greek') and Francesca Delbanco. "Nick is a comedic mastermind. With Friends from College, he and Francesca have created a world that is both moving and very, very funny. We are thrilled to be working with them and this incredible cast, and look forward to audiences around the world laughing with and at these relatable characters," Cindy Holland, Netflix Vice President of Original Content. The show centers on a group of friends who went to Harvard together and are now facing down their forties and experiencing a range of success, or lack thereof, both professionally and domestically. VIZIO Updates SmartCast App with Better Performance & Google Play Content Integration[teaser]The company has improved its SmartCast experience.[/teaser] VIZIO has announced an update for its SmartCast platform. The improved app now offers enhanced performance and additional content. "The VIZIO Smartcast ecosystem not only simplifies the entertainment experience by giving consumers one app that controls many devices, but it also lets users search and browse across content catalogs from multiple apps at once," said Matt McRae, Chief Technology Officer, VIZIO. "We're excited to announce that soon Google Play Movies & TV will be added to the VIZIO SmartCast app. Soon consumers can easily search Google Play's expansive library of movies and TV shows alongside selections from their other favorite apps. This process streamlines content discovery so consumers can easily find and tap to cast their choice to the big screen." The VIZIO SmartCast app allows users to control their VIZIO SmartCast devices from any room in the home and stream content from their mobile devices straight to the big screen. SmartCast users can also search and browse content by genre across multiple apps at once. The VIZIO SmartCast app is available for download on iOS and Android smartphones or tablets, and comes preinstalled on the 2016 P-Series and M-Series Android Tablet Remotes. The newly improved app now offers a faster all-around content aggregation experience with quicker load times and speedier search results. Likewise, the updated app will soon feature more content options as well, including full integration of Google Play Movies & TV. LG Details New PH2, PH3 and PH4 Portable Bluetooth Speakers[teaser]Three new Bluetooth speakers have been revealed. [/teaser] LG has announced the latest additions to its audio lineup. The upcoming PH2, PH3 and PH4 portable Bluetooth speakers will debut at IFA 2016 in Berlin next month. "LG's new line of Bluetooth speakers combine powerful sound performance with compact, portable design," said Tim Alessi, senior director, product marketing for home entertainment at LG Electronics USA. "Understanding the busy lifestyles of many of today’s consumers, we sought to create a diverse lineup of audio products that deliver a seamless listening experience in any situation or setting." The PH2 is a 2.5-watt portable, splash-proof speaker with a circular design. The device measures 3.8 inches x 1.5 inches and weighs less than half a pound. A 6-hour battery is included as well. Meanwhile, the PH3 is a 3-watt speaker with a sleek, candle-like design available in three colors with five different multicolored lighting modes. The device measures 3.5 inches x 4.9 inches and features an integrated 10-hour battery. Finally, the PH4 is a 16-watt, water resistant speaker with dual passive radiators and a cylindrical design. The unit measures 2.5 inches x 3.1 inches and also includes an integrated 10-hour battery. All three portable speakers feature 360-degree omni-directional sound output with a Bass Boost feature. Likewise, the three models all include wireless Bluetooth support with advanced Multipoint connectivity, allowing the speakers to simultaneously connect with two different Bluetooth devices. FOX Sports & NextVR Ready Live Virtual Reality Broadcast of Bundesliga Opening Match[teaser]The upcoming soccer match will be available in virtual reality. [/teaser] FOX Sports and NextVR have announced plans to live broadcast the opening match of the 2016/2017 Bundesliga season in virtual reality for Gear VR Headsets. The soccer match will mark the latest live VR collaboration between NextVR and FOX Sports, following previous VR broadcasts of events like the Daytona 500 and the Premier Boxing Champions. "Virtual reality will allow fans globally to experience the Bundesliga opening match on a platform they've never experienced," Dr Holger Blask, Director Audiovisual Rights and Member of the Executive Committee. "The Bundesliga is excited to bring new exciting technology to live sporting events." The match will feature Bayern München vs. Werder Bremen and is set to begin at 8:30pm UTC on August 26 in the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. The VR broadcast will use seven cameras to capture the action, including camera placed in the stands, along the sidelines, midfield and behind the goal. In addition, the event will also include live audio commentary by former American professional soccer player and Bundesliga player, Heath Pearce, as well as FOX Sports soccer commentator Mark Rogondino. "We are thrilled to continue our relationship with FOX Sports and for the opportunity to produce a Bundesliga match," said Brad Allen, Executive Chairman of NextVR.
