Roku Expands Streaming Channel Selection with Discovery's "GO" Lineup[teaser]Several new streaming channels are now available through Roku devices. [/teaser] Roku has announced the latest additions to its streaming content library. Discovery’s "GO" suite of TV Everywhere channels are now available on Roku players and Roku TV models in the US. The lineup includes Discovery GO, Animal Planet GO, TLC GO, Sci GO, and ID GO. Together, the channels offer access to a variety of popular shows, including Discovery Channel's 'Deadliest Catch' and 'Naked & Afraid'; TLC’s 'My Big Fat Fabulous Life' and 'Little People Big World'; Investigation Discovery’s 'Homicide Hunter: Lt. Joe Kenda' and 'On the Case with Paula Zahn'; and Animal Planet’s 'Pit Bulls and Parolees' and 'River Monsters.' Users can browse through specific shows or topics on each channel's home screen, and the apps also provide support for live TV. In order to watch all content from the various apps, users will need an authenticated pay TV subscription. With that said, select unlocked episodes are available for all Roku customers to stream free of charge without the need for a cable, satellite or telco subscription. The new Discovery channels are now available in the "Movies & TV" category in the Roku Channel Store on Roku players and Roku TV models, including the company's flagship Roku 4 ($130). The Roku 4 is powered by a Quad-Core processor and features support for 4K Ultra HD playback at up to 60 fps, 4K upscaling of HD content, and audio support for up to Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 surround sound. HDCP 2.2 compliancy is integrated as well, along with 802.11ac MIMO dual-band wireless, 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, an Optical Audio Out, a microSD slot, and a USB port. Netflix Adds Billy Crudup to Cast of Psychological Thriller 'Gypsy'[teaser]Billy Crudup has joined the cast of the upcoming one hour series. [/teaser] Netflix has announced the latest cast addition to its new original series, 'Gypsy.' Billy Crudup will now join previously announced star, Naomi Watts, in the psychological thriller from Universal Television, Working Title, and writer Lisa Rubin. The show focuses on Jean Holloway (Naomi Watts) – a therapist who begins to develop dangerous and intimate relationships with the people in her patients' lives. Billy Crudup will play Jean's husband and loving father to their daughter. Liza Chasin and Lisa Rubin will serve as executive producers. Likewise, Rubin will also serve as writer. Sam Taylor-Johnson ('Fifty Shades of Grey') is directing the first two episodes of the series, and Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Andrew Stearn and Naomi Watts are all on board as executive producers. An exact release date has not been announced, but the ten episode series is set to make its streaming debut exclusively through Netflix in 2017.
