Samsung Set to Acquire HARMAN in $8 Billion Deal[teaser]The auto-tech and audio company will be acquired by Samsung.[/teaser] Samsung Electronics and Harman International Industries, Incorporated have announced a definitive agreement which will allow Samsung to acquire HARMAN for $112 per share in cash for a total equity value of approximately $8 billion. The deal includes HARMAN's various audio brands and will greatly expand Samsung's presence in the connected technologies and automotive electronics markets. "HARMAN perfectly complements Samsung in terms of technologies, products and solutions, and joining forces is a natural extension of the automotive strategy we have been pursuing for some time," said Oh-Hyun Kwon, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Samsung Electronics. Though the main emphasis of the purchase is on HARMAN's leading presence in connected car solutions and in-vehicle tech, the Samsung acquisition will also include HARMAN's various consumer and professional audio brands like JBL, Harman Kardon, Mark Levinson, AKG, Lexicon, Infinity, and Revel -- allowing Samsung to offer enhanced customer benefits and user experiences across the company's entire collection of consumer and professional products. Rosario Dawson, Elodie Yung, Deborah Ann Woll, and More Join Cast of Marvel's 'The Defenders'[teaser]More cast members have been confirmed for the upcoming superhero team-up series.[/teaser] Marvel and Netflix have revealed several cast additions for 'The Defenders.' The ensemble features a large group of returning supporting players from 'Daredevil,' 'Jessica Jones,' 'Luke Cage,' and 'Iron Fist.' Per the show's Twitter account, the upcoming miniseries will include Deborah Ann Woll, Simone Missick, Elden Henson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Rachael Taylor, Rosario Dawson, Scott Glenn, Jessica Henwick, and Elodie Yung -- all reprising their respective roles from various Marvel series on Netflix. The group now joins previously announced stars Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones. Likewise, Marvel also recently revealed that Sigourney Weaver will join the cast as an unspecified villain. 'The Defenders' will feature a crossover team-up between Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist as they face their biggest threat yet. Douglas Petrie ('Buffy the Vampire Slayer') and Marco Ramirez ('Orange is the New Black') are on board as showrunners. In addition, Petrie, Ramirez, Drew Goddard ('The Martian,' 'Lost,' 'Alias'), and Jeph Loeb will all serve as Executive Producers for the mini-series. The show is being produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix. An exact release date has not been announced yet. Seasons one and two of 'Daredevil,' season one of 'Jessica Jones,' and season one of 'Luke Cage' are all available now to stream on Netflix. Meanwhile, 'Iron Fist' is set to premiere on March 17.
