Amazon Adds Multi-Room Audio Support for Echo Devices[teaser]Multi-room support is now available on Echo products.[/teaser] Amazon has announced the addition of a new multi-room Alexa feature. The update enables users to control and synchronize music over multiple Echo products throughout a customer's home. "In just the last few months, we've added dozens of new features to Alexa that enhance your entertainment experience—control of Amazon Fire TV and your home entertainment systems via Echo; music lyrics, Amazon Video, and movie trailers on Echo Show; and activity-based music searches—and we're just getting started," said Toni Reid, Vice President, Amazon Alexa. "Today, we're making Alexa even smarter with an all-new feature that lets you play music synchronized on multiple Echo devices to provide room-filling music throughout your home." With Alexa multi-room support, Echo owners can now use the Alexa App to create groups with two or more Echo devices allowing synchronized music streaming. After a group is named, users can then simply ask Alexa to play music in that area or cluster. Currently supported services include Amazon Music, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and Pandora. Likewise, support for Spotify and SiriusXM will be added soon. The new multi-room feature is now available on Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show devices in the US, UK, and Germany. And beyond support for Echo products, Amazon has also announced new tools for manufacturers to implement Alexa multi-room support and voice control capabilities into their own speakers. Brands set to use the tech include Sonos, Bose, Sound United, and Samsung. "We're thrilled to integrate Alexa multi-room audio with Samsung speakers," said Jun Young Kim, Vice President of AV Business Team, Samsung. "With Alexa multi-room audio and Samsung, customers will simply be able to ask Alexa to play their favorite music in any room of the house – using only their voice. Samsung Announces 43-inch Frame Ultra HD TV[teaser]The lifestyle TV will be available in a smaller size.[/teaser] At IFA 2017 in Berlin, Samsung announced plans to release a 43-inch version of its Frame lifestyle Ultra HD TV. The display previously launched in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes. "Samsung's innovation is inspired by consumers and designed to make an immediate difference," said David Lowes, Chief Marketing Officer for Samsung Electronics Europe. "This innovation is based on craftsmanship, clever connectivity and championing the impossible. As technology increasingly plays a role in every part of our lives, we’re creating products and services that adapt to consumers and set the tone for what becomes their 'new normal'." Emphasizing premium design, The Frame is a display built to look like a picture frame hanging on a user's wall when not in use as a TV. When the unit is placed in "Art Mode," the screen displays custom-designed digital art pieces instead of fading to black like a traditional television. Customers can choose from 100 art pieces in 10 different categories through the "Samsung Collection" -- including landscape, architecture, wildlife, action, drawing, and more. Likewise, users can also purchase additional pieces from Samsung’s "Art Store" or save and upload their favorite personal art work or photographs using “My Collection.” In addition, Samsung has revealed a new partnership with the Prado museum along with plans to add around 1,000 art pieces to the Frame's Art Store. Finally, The Frame uses Samsung's new Invisible Connection and No Gap Wall-mount, allowing versatile mounting options without unsightly cables or wires, along with customizable accessories like interchangeable bezels and an optional Studio Stand. Pricing for the new 43-inch Frame TV has not been announced yet, but the 55-inch ($1,999) and 65-inch ($2,799) models are available now. Source: SamsungPosted Thu Aug 31, 2017 at 10:00 AM PDT by: -
Dirac Research Reveals New Mobile Dirac Live Audio Room Correction Tool[teaser]The company's audio room correction process will be available as an app.[/teaser] Dirac Research has announced its new Mobile Dirac Live app. The platform will serve as an end-user version of its integrator-based Dirac Live room correction technology. "Mobile Dirac Live is our response to the growing demand from our partners who manufacture both high-end, integrator-installed AVR products and more entry-level products purchased and installed directly by end-users," said Niklas Thorin, Dirac's General Manager of High Performance Audio. "Mobile Dirac Live now provides our manufacturer partners with the ability to offer all of their customers, regardless of their system’s sophistication or complexity, a way to optimize their home theater set-up by correcting for acoustical abnormalities and colorations." Dirac Live is a patented room correction technology that uses multiple measurement and mixed phase correction to fix the frequency response and impulse response of a room's speaker setup, resulting in a more natural and realistic sound. The tech is typically implemented as an installer version designed for high-end custom home theater systems, but the new mobile app version will allow customers with entry-level AV products to use the room correction tech. "Dirac Live room correction technology can now be enjoyed by a significantly broader segment of the home theater market," continued Thorin. "With Mobile Dirac Live, manufacturers of lite home theater AVR products can offer their customers a sleek, easy-to-use mobile app that allows them to optimize audio performance and ensure that they’re getting the most out of their system." Mobile Dirac Live is set to launch for Android and iOS devices in the fall and will he demoed at the upcoming CEDIA tech show in San Diego. The platform will be compatible with several AVR units that are equipped with the embedded Dirac Live audio filters and algorithms. Source: Dirac ResearchPosted Thu Aug 31, 2017 at 09:15 AM PDT by: -

BoJack Horseman: Season Four (Netflix, September 8) - Will Arnett voices BoJack, the failed legendary 90's sitcom star from the favorite family sitcom Horsin’ Around, who has been trying to find his way through a muddle of self-loathing, whisky and failed relationships. Strong Island (Netflix, September 15) - In April 1992, on Long Island NY, William Jr., the Ford’s eldest child, a black 24 year-old teacher, was killed by Mark Reilly, a white 19 year-old mechanic. A twisting, evolving story of one man’s sixty-year quest to identify the circumstances of his father’s mysterious death. Combining a virtuosic performance by Peter Sarsgaard with Morris’ legendary interview style, Wormwood examines this case from every possible angle, bringing the viewer face-to-face with some of the United States’ darkest secrets. Black Mirror: Season Four (Netflix, Coming Soon) - An anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm - a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us. The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones. In addition, Netflix has also ordered an eight episode second season of Friends From College. The show centers on a group of friends who went to Harvard together and are now facing down their forties and experiencing a range of success, or lack thereof, both professionally and domestically. With interwoven and oftentimes complicated relationships with one another, the series is a comedic exploration of old friendships, former romantic entanglements and balancing adult life with nostalgia for the past.
