Sling TV Launches A La Carte Channel Options and Free Content Selection[teaser]The streaming TV service has revealed several new features.[/teaser] Sling TV has announced the addition of à la carte channels and services, along with a selection of free content for returning customers without a current subscription. With that said, the company has also enacted a $5 price increase for its Orange subscription plan, bringing the monthly cost to $25. "When we first launched Sling in 2015, we set out to create an entertainment experience that put our customers first, offering unprecedented flexibility and control – no annual contracts, no hidden fees and the ability to customize programming," said Warren Schlichting, president of Sling TV. "The new Sling evolves the experience even further by providing access to great content without anchoring customers to a base subscription." With Sling TV's new à la carte options, customers can pay for select channels and on-demand services on their own without needing any kind of base Sling TV subscription. Showtime Orders New 'Halo' Live-Action TV Series[teaser]A new show based on the popular video game series is coming to Showtime.[/teaser] Showtime has ordered a live-action TV adaptation of the Halo video game franchise. The 10-episode season is set to enter production in 2019. "This is a truly exciting moment for the Halo franchise," stated Kiki Wolfkill, head of Halo Transmedia at 343 Industries. Redbox Announces Same-Day Blu-ray & Digital Rentals for Warner Bros. Titles[teaser]Warner Bros. movies will be available to rent the same day that they hit stores.[/teaser] Redbox has signed a new agreement with Warner Bros. to offer same-day DVD and Blu-ray rentals through the company's kiosks. This means that new Warner Bros. titles will now be available to rent through Redbox the same day that they are released in retail stores for purchase. In addition, the deal also covers same-day rentals for Warner Bros. new-release and catalog digital tiles through Redbox On Demand. "We're thrilled to announce this day-and-date agreement with Warner Bros. that provides the consistently strong slate of Warner Bros. titles to consumers at their earliest physical retail sell-through availability," said Galen Smith, CEO of Redbox. The movie is the fourth entry in the Predator franchise and is set to hit theaters on September 14, 2018. From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black's explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe's most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race. NES Classic Edition Will Be Back in Stock at Retailers This Week[teaser]Nintendo's retro game console will return to stores later this week.[/teaser] After being discontinued in 2017, the NES Classic Edition is now scheduled to be back in stock at several retailers starting June 29 for an MSRP of $60. The system is designed to look like a mini version of the original Nintendo Entertainment System from the 80s, and comes pre-loaded with a collection of 30 8-bit video games, including titles like Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., and The Legend of Zelda. In addition, the package includes an HDMI cable, an AC adapter, and one NES Classic Controller. Best Buy will offer the console on a first-come, first serve basis with a limit of one unit per customer when its stores open on Friday. The company plans to use the same ticketing method it uses on Black Friday if lines form. In addition, a certain number of systems will also be available for purchase through BestBuy.com with the same one unit per customer limit. Meanwhile, according to reports by Gamespot and Slash Gear, GameStop is set to have at least ten units of the NES Classic Edition on sale at each of the company's stores. Systems will also be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Likewise, the retailer will have an unknown amount of stock available for purchase through its website and through its subsidiary ThinkGeek as well. Additional retailers like Amazon, Target, and Walmart are also likely to have consoles back in stock for purchase on June 29.
