New Action-Packed 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Trailer Speeds Full Throttle into Hyperspace[teaser]The iconic smuggler is heading back to theaters in May.[/teaser] Following the release of an initial teaser back in February, Disney and Lucasfilm have now revealed a new full trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story. The film is set to premiere on May 25, 2018. Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes. Check out the official trailer below! Though initially directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie), the studio replaced the filmmaking pair with Ron Howard following creative differences during the shoot. Howard then reshot portions of the movie and finished the production based on a script by writers Jon Kasdan & Lawrence Kasdan. The movie stars Alden Ehrenreich as a younger version of the iconic smuggler first made famous by Harrison Ford in the original trilogy. Additional cast members include Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, and Paul Bettany. Beyond Solo: A Star Wars Movie, Disney is set to release Star Wars: Episode IX on December 20, 2019. The final entry in the trilogy will be directed by J.J. Abrams. In addition, filmmaker Rian Johnson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) is developing an entirely new trilogy of Star Wars films, and Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are also working on new films for the franchise. Source: Star Wars (YouTube)Posted Sun Apr 8, 2018 at 06:45 PM PDT by: -

Amazon's 'Lord of the Rings' Series Set to Be Most Expensive Show Ever Made[teaser]A trip to Middle-earth isn't cheap.[/teaser] A recent story from The Hollywood Reporter has shed some new light on Amazon's upcoming Lord of the Rings prequel series for Prime Video. Though plot details remain elusive, the update does offer insights into the streaming show's massive budget and potential ties to director Peter Jackson and his previously released movies. According to the report, Amazon's $250 million agreement with the Tolkien estate, HarperCollins, and New Line Cinema covers the small screen rights to the Lord of the Rings franchise for a five-season commitment. Likewise, the deal also includes the potential for a spin-off series. With that said, in order to be in compliance with the contract, Amazon has to get production rolling on the project within two years. And it's looking like the whole endeavor could end up costing more than Smaug's treasure. All in, the budget estimate for the proposed five-season run is over $1 billion. Meanwhile, New Line's particular involvement in the deal means that Amazon may be planning to use material from Peter Jackon's hit movies, though any kind of direct connection between the upcoming show and the film series has not been confirmed. On that note, it's possible that Jackson himself might join the show as an executive producer if he chooses to become involved. A release date for the new Lord of the Rings series has not been announced yet, but the show will debut exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. A current Amazon Prime subscription costs $99 per year or $11 per month. Likewise, Prime Instant Video is available as a standalone service for $9 per month. JVC Preps New LX-UH1 DLP 4K HDR Projector for $2,500[teaser]The company's first DLP 4K projector has been detailed.[/teaser] Per a report from AVS Forum, JVC has announced its latest projector model. Serving as a more budget friendly alternative to the company's more expensive D-ILA 4K projectors, the upcoming LX-UH1 is a DLP based model. The LX-UH1 features support for 4K projection via pixel shifting tech dubbed TRP (tilt-and-roll pixels). The process begins with the 4 million pixels achieved by the unit's 0.47" DLP imager and then rapidly shifts each pixel back and forth to double the perceived amount to 8 million pixels. Meanwhile, the projector is rated for a brightness of 2,000 lumens and a dynamic contrast ratio of 100,000:1. In addition, the device uses an RGBRGB color-filter wheel to provide 100% coverage of the standard BT.709 color gamut. Likewise, wide color gamut signals (up to BT.2020) can be accepted as well, but it's not yet clear what amount of coverage the unit actually offers for the P3 color space used for most current 4K HDR content. HDR10 and HLG high dynamic range formats are also supported. Two HDMI inputs are integrated, and one is full 2.0 bandwidth compatible for 4K/60p HDR signals. Manual options for focus, lens shift, and zoom are provided as well. Lens shift range is listed at ±60% vertical and ±23% horizontal. Zoom range is rated for 1.36-2.18:1. The JVC LX-UH1 DLP 4K HDR projector is set to launch in May for an MSRP of $2,500. For comparisons sake, other budget friendly DLP 4K projectors include competing models like the BenQ HT2550 ($1,499) and the Optoma UHD50 ($1,399). Our reviewer Joshua Zyber recently checked out the UHD50 (full review here), however, and came away very underwhelmed by the unit's black levels and poor contrast. Hopefully, JVC's new 4K DLP effort will be able to succeed where other models have come up short. Source: AVS Forum, The VergePosted Thu Apr 5, 2018 at 06:55 AM PDT by: -
Amusing Infographic Ranks the Cost of Rental Apartments in Netflix Shows[teaser]A new infographic has revealed just how much you can expect to pay per month to live in the homes of Kimmy Schmidt and Pablo Escobar.[/teaser] Have you ever wondered how much it costs to live in the Bluth Family's Sudden Valley housing development? Or how about Joyce Byer's home in Hawkins, Indiana? Well, a handy infographic courtesy of ForRent.com has done all the math for you, offering an amusing look at the price of some iconic housing rentals from several popular Netflix Original Shows. The list includes real-world rental estimates for locations from The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Stranger Things, Luke Cage, Arrested Development, House of Cards, BoJack Horseman, Narcos, and Trailer Park Boys, along with fun bits of trivia about each rental and their surrounding neighborhoods. Check out a full rundown of the rental costs below, ranked from the least expensive to the most outrageous by ForRent.com: Trailer Park Boys – $463 The Trailer Park Boys characters live in the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park. Located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia near Halifax, the park is in disrepair due to Mr. Lahey’s and Randy's drunkenness and distraction. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – $650 Kimmy is renting a garden-level place in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood. It’s a 2-bedroom if you include the closet with a window where Kimmy lives. However, it’s a bit of a dive — the shower is in the kitchen and the floors are painted dirt. Stranger Things – $767 The 3-bedroom, 1-bath is located in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. It's a one story single-family in a wooded area on the outskirts of town. The property also has a shed and dog house. As an added amenity, the place is supernaturally charged. Luke Cage – $2,100 Luke's 1-bedroom Harlem apartment is above Genghis Connie’s Chinese restaurant. But the real-life street corner was filmed in Washington Heights at the corner of 171st Street and Broadway. Arrested Development – $2,470 It's a 3,000-square-foot model home in the fictional Sudden Valley subdivision. The 3-bedroom, 3-bath home has a hidden room to store the family secrets, plus a large attic for hiding parental fugitives. It is the same design that was used for Saddam Hussein's palaces in Iraq. The model home was poorly constructed. There was no foundation poured, and the drain pipes empty under the living room, causing it to sink. House of Cards – $2,300-$5,800 The D.C. home of Francis and Claire Underwood is located at 1609 Far St. NW, Washington, D.C.. It is a modest-sized brownstone townhouse located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. It has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, plus a full-size basement with exposed brick as a backdrop for your rowing machine. Currently, it's outfitted with high-end decor, crown molding and other classic touches. BoJack Horseman – $27,500 BoJack's place overlooks the iconic Hollywood sign. Built on the side of a mountain, the modernist architecture includes a wraparound deck and an inground pool. With an abundance of natural light, the open floor plan has a full kitchen with mid-century-styled bar stools for entertaining. What a mess — BoJack's rental is not neat and tidy like in most TV shows. Narcos – Millions Hacienda Napoles is the luxury estate of Escobar. The Spanish-style colonial villa had many amenities, including: an airstrip, helipads, 24 artificial lakes, a swimming pool containing a marble statue of Venus, a go-kart track, a 500-seat bullfighting arena, a classic car collection, a hovercraft, one of the world's largest private zoos (with elephants, giraffes, ostriches, tigers, zebras, exotic birds and hippos), landscaping that features life-size concrete dinosaurs that Escobar built for his son, and a replica of the propeller plane that carried Escobar's first U.S.-bound shipments of cocaine.
