WatchESPN Now Streaming to Comcast Customers[teaser]You'll be able to check it out on your computer or your iPhone, but other streaming devices are not supported. [/teaser] If you're a Comcast subscriber and a sports fan, you'll be happy to know that WatchESPN is now available for Comcast customers. You can download the free app for your iPhone or navigate over to the Xfinity site and enjoy all the live ESPN programming you like. If you want to access any other way, like your Android phone, then you're out of luck for now. Comcast customers always seem to get the short end of the streaming stick. It takes Comcast just a little bit longer to let streaming access through, and even then they try to restrict viewing to their own Xfinity service instead of allowing direct access. No Native Disc Playback on Windows 8[teaser]Microsoft says that people rarely play discs on their PCs, and when they do they use 3rd party players. [/teaser] The folks at Microsoft dropped some pretty big news last week – there will be no native Blu-ray or DVD playback built into Windows 8. Of course, the amount of people affected by this may be smaller than you might think. "Online sources are growing much faster than DVD and broadcast TV consumption, which are in sharp decline," says Bernardo Caldas of the Windows Business Group. He's speaking strictly in relation to PCs, adding that sales of Blu-ray drives and playback of Blu-rays on Windows computers have declined greatly. Due to the lowered use of DVD and Blu-ray on PCs and the third-party cost for decoders, Microsoft has decided to drop the functionality completely. Panasonic Creates World's Largest Plasma - 145 Inches[teaser]The massive size and 8K resolution earn Panasonic some serious bragging rights. [/teaser] The folks over at Panasonic have revealed their newest record-setting creation – a 145" plasma with an 8K resolution. This thing is ridiculous. Hideo Toyoda, managing director and CTO of AVC Networks Company at Panasonic says that the resolution is such that you'll think you're looking at reality. "It doesn't use 3D technology," he adds, "but the picture is so realistic, you feel truly immersed in the scene." Panasonic will almost certainly tell you that the reason they create these stunning TVs is because they want to show off their abilities and show up their competitors. We're under the suspicion that they're doing it just to spite us. "Here's a TV that you want bad, but we'll totally never release it." Jerks. Ah well, we'd have to make some big adjustments to our living arrangements to fit the set in there anyway. Source: Big Picture Big SoundPosted Tue May 8, 2012 at 09:00 AM PDT by: -
