E3 is in full swing this week. Only the plucky (if obscure) videogame releases dare to contend with the year’s biggest gaming event.
Enemy Front (PS3, 360, PC)
As the years go by, some gamers, myself included, enjoy the simplicity of FPS games circa 2000. Great gameplay, fewer weapon unlockable weapon skins. ‘Enemy Front‘ appears to be such a throwback, and is set during the ever-popular European theater of the Second World War.
How to Train Your Dragon 2: The Video Game (360, PS3, Wii U, Wii, 3DS)
‘How to Train Your Dragon 2: The Video Game‘ isn’t just a movie tie-in. It’s a movie tie-in that apes the gameplay of the old, much-loved ‘Spyro’ franchise (which shouldn’t be confused with the current ‘Skylanders’). This could be a good family purchase.
The crowdfunded ‘Spintires‘ looks to do for off-roading what ‘Train Simulator‘ did for train enthusiasts. Loads of mods and user content are already available from the early access period. This is a must-own for those who 4×4.
Space Run (PC)
‘Space Run‘ is an exciting indie game built around the concept of strategic but dangerous space delivery. It’s kind of a spin on tower defense, but involving a shipment that must be protected rather than a tower.
