Videogame Releases: Week of January 5th, 2014

In the videogame world, January and February are usually packed full of odd ports and games that missed the holiday ship date. This week fits that mold perfectly.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PC)

Nearly a year after debuting on the PS3 and 360, ‘Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance‘ finally makes its way to the PC with all of the DLC and a few extra options. Platinum Games’ take on ‘Metal Gear’ managed to be fun, challenging and packed full of franchise visuals and convoluted story bits, making it a great spin-off of a popular Japanese game series. This version is perfect for any PC gamers who don’t already own the title on a console.

Don’t Starve (PS4)

Free for PS Plus members, Klei Entertainment’s indie PC hit ‘Don’t Starve’ brings the open-ended survival genre to the PS4. The game is known for its whimsical visuals and application of both science and magic.

Consortium (PC)

Not only does this Kickstarter project look interesting and cool, but it seems like the kind of multifaceted PC game that the platform used to be known for. Set in the not-too-distant future, players act as a field agent on the ZENLIL, a mobile command center for a peacekeeping force. The game mixes first person, RPG and strategic elements, and is built with Valve’s much-loved Source engine. Bring it on, I say.
