Oh, nuts. Even though Barnes & Noble holds its 50% off Criterion Collection sale every July and November like clockwork, I somehow almost let this one slip by me. Just too much else going on in my life at the moment, I suppose. If you’ve been saving your pennies in anticipation (as I should have done, but didn’t), now is the time to stock up your collection.
The following list does not include every title that the Criterion Collection has released on Blu-ray. That would be far too long to include in this post. Instead, these are the titles that Criterion has released since the last Barnes & Noble sale, which ended July 30th of this year. If you plan to buy older releases (or titles only available on DVD), be sure to check Other and tell us in the Comments section.

The Barnes & Noble sale officially started yesterday, October 30th and will run through November 19th, 2012. All Criterion Collection DVDs and Blu-rays are being sold for 50% off MSRP, both in stores and online at barnesandnoble.com. In past sales, the discounted prices only applied to titles available through the end of the sale period. However, the B&N web site currently shows ‘Brazil’ (scheduled for December 4th) at 50% off as well.
Due to some major financial commitments I have going on right now, I’ll have to go light this time and prioritize ‘Brazil’ and ‘Rosemary’s Baby’. Which titles do you plan to buy?

AuthorThe search and browse functions seem to be broken on the B&N site right now. Unless a title is displayed on one of the main pages, I can’t get to it. Anyone else having this problem?

AuthorThe web site is working now. Must have been a server error.
It appears that all Criterion pre-orders through December are covered by this sale and reflect the 50% off price. In addition to Brazil, that would include Heaven’s Gate, Purple Noon, Following and the Qatsi trilogy.

I’m on my public library’s wait list to see les Visiteurs du soir. I’m near enough the top that there’s an excellent chance I’ll see the film before the sale is over. Depending on how that viewing goes, I might decide to buy the Blu-ray. Otherwise, nothing for me this time (which is what I chose in the poll).

Picked up the December titles I wanted since they were eligible even though they come out after the sale period (Qatsi Trilogy, Brazil, and The Following) and then went to Best Buy (had a gift card) and price matched Quadrophenia, The Game, and Rosemary’s Baby.
I have an Amazon GC on the way and can only hope they attempt to match, although they never do.

Grabbed A Night To Remember & The Gold Rush; both I’d been looking at for a while and this is the lowest price I’ve seen them.
