[/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, MPI and Dark Sky Films says 'Traders' will be available on Blu-ray on August 2. Jobs are gone. Homes are being repossessed. Suicide rates are soaring. But Vernon Stynes (John Bradley, Game of Thrones) might have the answer - Trading. Through an underground online network of similarly displaced individuals, two people agree to Trade by emptying their bank accounts, selling everything they own and putting the cash into nondescript green bags. They then travel to a remote location, dig a grave and fight to the death. Winner buries the loser and takes the two bags. Then you find someone else and do it again, and again, and again, until you are rich enough or dead, whichever comes first. Harry Fox (Killian Scott, Calvary) has lost his job, his dignity, his best friend. What else has he got to lose? Why not become a Trader? 'Aliens: 30th Anniversary Edition' Blu-ray Bound[teaser]James Cameron's classic horror is getting a 30th anniversary edition in September. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, 20th Century Fox will be releasing 'Aliens: 30th Anniversary Edition' on Blu-ray on September 13. In this action-packed sequel to Alien, Sigourney Weaver returns as Ripley, the only survivor from mankind's first encounter with the monstrous Alien. Her account of the Alien and the fate of her crew are received with skepticism - until the mysterious disappearance of colonists on LV-426 lead her to join a team of high-tech colonial marines sent in to investigate. Jon Favreau's 'The Jungle Book' Dated and Detailed for Blu-ray[teaser]The live-action reimagining of the Disney classic is headed for Blu-ray in August. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Disney/Buena Vista will be releasing 'The Jungle Book' on Blu-ray on August 30. Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2,” “Chef”) and produced by Favreau and Brigham Taylor (executive producer of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” “Tomorrowland”), “The Jungle Book” is a live-action epic adventure based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories, inspired by Disney’s classic 1967 animated film and centered on Mowgli (Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Hitachi Readies Roku HDTV and Ultra HD TV Models for Fall Release[teaser]Another manufacturer has joined the Roku TV family. [/teaser] Roku has announced the addition of Hitachi America to its Roku TV program. The company plans to release various Roku TV models this fall. Hitachi's upcoming Roku TV lineup will include HD and 4K Ultra HD displays in numerous screen sizes. The TVs will all use the intuitive Roku OS smart TV platform, giving users easy access to a variety of apps and streaming services. The Roku OS features a simple, personalized home screen, 3,000+ streaming channels, and powerful search and discovery features. More details are expected to be announced in the coming months. Hitachi now joins a growing collection of Roku TV manufacturers, including Hisense, TCL, Insignia, Haier, and Sharp. During its first full year on the market, the Roku TV program had more than 40 display models available in the US and sales accounting for 8% of the nation's smart TV business. This year, more than 60 Roku TV models are planned to ship to stores with sizes ranging from 24 inches to 65 inches. Samsung Releases $1,499 Serif Ultra HD TV with HDR in US[teaser]The new 4K display emphasizes design with a unique aesthetic. [/teaser] Samsung is now taking orders for its 40-inch Serif Ultra HD TV in the US through the Museum of Modern Art. Created in collaboration with designers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, the Serif TV is made to fit into a user's home like a piece of furniture. "Many attempts were explored in our workshop, and step-by-step we approached the logic of SERIF TV: a TV defined by a frame that outlines the screen," said Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec. "Like typographers designing a letter, we studied both the object and its interaction with the space around it." The Serif Ultra HD TV features an unconventional frame design that resembles a capital "I" when viewed in profile, complete with a small, shelf-like surface at the top. The TV can be positioned on existing furniture or propped up on its own included legs. In addition to its unique appearance, the sets also uses a re-designed Samsung smart TV interface that includes a "curtain mode" which allows customers to access services like a clock, Bluetooth speakers, apps and photo galleries while a curtain-like filter is placed over the display content.
