Universal to Bring 'Changeling' to Blu-ray[teaser]Universal is planning a mid-February bow for the dramatic thriller 'Changeling.' [/teaser] Directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Angelina Jolie as a mother who must fight a tangled legal system to regain custody of her kidnapped son, 'Changeling' has earned nearly $40 million at the domestic box office. Universal will debut the film, which received mixed critical notices, on Blu-ray February 17 (day-and-date with the standard DVD). 'Capote,' 'In Cold Blood' Double Feature Headed to Blu-ray[teaser]Sony is bringing a double dose of true crime to Blu-ray, announcing a two-title bundle of 'Capote' and 'In Cold Blood' for February release. [/teaser] Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman as Pulitzer Prize-winning author Truman Capote, 'Capote' documents the writing of the landmark true crime novel 'In Cold Blood.' Sony will release both the Oscar-winning Hoffman biopic and the acclaimed 1967 big-screen adaptation of the Capote novel as a special two-pack on February 17. There are no tech specs or supplement details available as of yet, but we expect the full media release in the coming days. Sony also hasn't announced separate stand-alone Blu-ray releases of either title, but as always, we'll keep you posted. Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $34.98. 'Coco Before Chanel' Blu-ray Bound[teaser]The biopic of the perfume queen will spritz up high-definition in February. [/teaser] Sony Pictures is readying 'Coco Before Chanel' starring Audrey Tautou for Blu-ray on February 16. Specs haven't been revealed yet, but supplements will include: Commentary with Writer/Director Anne Fontaine; The Making of Coco Before Chanel; Coco Before Chanel: La Rencontre (The Meeting); and Walking the Red Carpet: From Los Angeles to New York. Sony Adds Exclusives to 'Nick & Norah' Blu-ray[teaser]Sony has revealed final specs for 'Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist,' which will come to Blu-ray with hours of bonus features and exclusive content. [/teaser] As previously reported, Sony will debut the Michael Cera and Kat Dennings teen romantic comedy on Blu-ray February 3 (day-and-date with the standard DVD). Confirmed tech specs will see a BD-50 dual-layer presentation with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio. Bonus features shared with the standard DVD are two audio commentaries (with director Peter Sollett, actors Cera, Dennings and Ari Graynor, and a second track with Sollett, authors Rachel Cohn and David Levithan and screenwriter Lorene Scafaria), deleted scenes and outtakes, animated storyboards, and a photo gallery. Exclusive to the Blu-ray is "Nick & Norah’s Interactive Playlist," and a Telestrator version of the director and actor's commentary. Included on a second standard DVD is a Digital Copy of the film (in standard-def). City Lights to Release 'Matador' Doc on Blu this February[teaser]Indie City Lights has announced a February Blu-ray release for the acclaimed documentary 'The Matador.'[/teaser] Chronicling a Spanish bullfighter's quest to achieve his place among Spain's greatest of the sport, 'The Matador' was a hit on the festival circuit, but only received a limited run in theaters. 'Fast Company' Careens Onto Blu-ray[teaser]Blue Underground has announced its latest cult film release, setting a late-April Blu-ray date for 'Fast Company.'[/teaser] An early 1979 effort from David Cronenberg, 'Fast Company' stars William Smith, John Saxon, and the late Claudia Jennings in a tale of the fast company and crazy lives and loves of a group of stock car racers. Blue Underground will give the cult fave its Blu-ray debut on April 28 (the company previously released a special edition DVD version in 2004). Tech specs will see a BD-50 dual-layer disc with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and audio options in English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 7.1 Surround and English Dolby TrueHD 7.1 Surround. 'High School Musical' to Get Blu-ray 'Remix'[teaser]Walt Disney Studios is bringing the original smash 'High School Musical' to Blu-ray this February.[/teaser] Dubbed 'High School Musical: Remix,' the Disney Channel phenomenon will come to Blu-ray on February 17 with a host of bonus features. Extras will include new interviews with the cast, Hollywood premiere footage, a "Dance Along" step-by-step instructional to two songs in the film, remixed versions of two additional songs, and three music videos. Tech specs will see a BD-50 dual-layer presentation with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround audio. Though Disney has yet to officially announce it, expectations are that 'High School Musical: Remix' is being released to coincide with the home video premiere of the recent box office hit 'High School Musical 3.' Disc Sales: 'Dark Knight' Tops 600K On Release Day'The Dark Knight' has smashed another record. [teaser]First-day Blu-ray sales are in for the box office juggernaut, with Warner reporting that the title moved 600,000 units in the US. Canada and the UK since hitting stores Tuesday.[/teaser] That easily eclipses the first-day high-def sales of previous record-holder 'Iron Man,' which earlier this year topped out at 250,000 in its first 24 hours on shelves. 'The Dark Knight's Blu-ray take also accounted for 20 percent of total video sales for the title. "Numbers like these in this economic environment firmly establish Blu-ray as where consumers are headed," Kevin Tsujihara, President of Warner Brothers Home Entertainment, told the New York Times. Well ahead of the studio's reported internal projections, 'The Dark Knight' is already poised to sell over 1,000,000 Blu-ray copies in its first week in stores. Neil Young's 'Archives' Gets Date, Specs[teaser]The first confirmed details have emerged for Neil Young's 'Archives Volume One,' which is shaping up to be a landmark Blu-ray music release against which all others will be judged.[/teaser] As previously reported, the rock legend announced ambitious plans earlier this year to release his entire back catalog on Blu-ray in multiple, extensive special edition box sets, though there were no street date or specs. Now the first official word has come in, with 'Neil Young: Archives Volume One (1963-1972)' tentatively set for a February 24 street date through Warner Music Group. Spanning ten discs, the set will boast no less than 128 tracks, among them 43 unreleased songs and 13 never-before-heard by the public. Also included are two complete live albums, "Live At The Fillmore East" and "Live At Massey Hall 1971." Video extras feature the full-length documentary "Journey Through the Past." Rounding out this impressive Blu-ray release is a 236-page hardcover book, plus lyrics written by Neil Young, newspaper articles, letters and a Young timeline. BBC Brings 'Cranford' to Blu-ray[teaser]BBC Video has announced an April Blu-ray release for the acclaimed British mini-series 'Cranford.'[/teaser] Based on the literary works of Elizabeth Gaskell, this BBC/Masterpiece Classic production stars Judi Dench, Imelda Staunton, and Michael Gambon. BBC will release the complete series on Blu-ray April 14, day-and-date with the standard DVD. The 291-minute program will be presented as a two-disc set.
