Eagle Rock Bringing Trio of Music Titles to Blu[teaser]Indie Eagle Rock has announced a trio of new music titles, bringing live concert favorites from Tori Amos, Ray Charles and a host of top artists to Blu-ray for the first time.[/teaser] Due for simultaneous release on December 9, Eagle Rock will premiere 'Tori Amos, Live At Montreux 1991/1992,' 'Ray Charles, Live At Montreux 1997' and the all-star jam 'The Strat Pack Live In Concert' (featuring performances by Queen, Roxy Music, the Eagles, Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones') on Blu-ray. (Eagle Rock previously released all three titles on standard DVD.) No tech or supplement specs have been confirmed as of yet, but based on Eagle Rock's previous Blu-ray releases, expect at least some form of high-res audio and bonus features comparable to the previous DVD versions. Suggested list price has been set at $24.95 apiece. 'Babylon A.D.' Coming to Blu-ray[teaser]Fox Home Entertainment is bringing the Vin Diesel action film 'Babylon A.D.' to Blu-ray this January with hours of bonus materials and exclusive content.[/teaser] A box office underperformer that was mauled by critics, the sci-fi yarn will hit Blu-ray January 6, day-and-date with the DVD. Tech specs will see a BD-50 dual-layer presentation with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (2.35:1) and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround audio. Among the extras is a quartet of featurettes ("Babylon Babies," "Arctic Escape," "Fit For The Screen," "Flight of the Hummers"), the "Genesis of Aurora" short film and a still gallery. Exclusive to the Blu-ray is a Bonus View picture-in-picture track "Scene Evolution" which features behind-the-scenes material on nearly two dozen sequences from the film. 'Ghost Hunters' to Spook Blu-ray this January[teaser]Image Entertainment is bringing the popular Sci-Fi Channel series 'Ghost Hunters' to Blu-ray in early January.[/teaser] Featuring a team of paranormal investigators who travel across America in search of spectral happenings, 'The Absolute Best of Ghost Hunters' culls together two previous DVD releases, "The Best of Ghost Hunters Vol. 1" and "The Best of Ghost Hunters Vol. 2" into one high-def package. Image will debut the Blu-ray version on January 6. Tech specs will see 1080 video (1.78:1) and Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo audio. Lionsgate Brings Animated 'Hulk' Double Header to Blu-ray[teaser]Comic book fans, mark your calendars: Lionsgate will bring a double dose of Hulk to Blu-ray this January with a double feature of animated premiere movies.[/teaser] Dubbed "Twice the Carnage!", Lionsgate's Blu-ray release of 'Hulk Vs.' will pair up the full-length animated Marvel features 'Hulk Vs. Fox Planning February Bow for 'Vanishing Point'[teaser]Making an early announcement to retailers, Fox has set a late-February Blu-ray release date for the 1971 thriller 'Vanishing Point.'[/teaser] Considered one of the classics of '70s paranoid cinema, the Barry Newman-starrer will make its high-def debut on February 24. 'Bird with the Crystal Plumage' to Haunt Blu-ray this February[teaser]Blue Underground has confirmed a late-February bow for the latest addition to its Blu-ray catalog, the Dario Argento classic 'The Bird with the Crystal Plumage.'[/teaser] The trend-setting Italian giallo will make its anticipated Blu-ray debut on February 24. Fox Brings 'Donnie Darko' to Blu-ray[teaser]Fox has announced an early-February Blu-ray release for the cult classic 'Donnie Darko,' which will come to high-def with both the theatrical and unrated versions.[/teaser] Starring Jake Gyllenhaal and directed by Richard Kelly, 'Donnie Darko' failed to generate big grosses during its original theatrical run, but has since go one to amass a devoted following on video. Fox will give 'Donnie Darko' its high-def premiere on February 10 (the studio previously released a special edition DVD in 2005.) There are no tech specs or supplement details as of yet, but Fox is billing the Blu-ray as a Collector's Edition, so we expect plenty of extras. We'll keep you posted.
