Marvel Developing FALCON & WINTER SOLIDER Series for Disney Streaming Service[teaser]The superheroes could be heading to Disney's new streaming platform.[/teaser] According to a report by Variety, Marvel is developing a new live action limited series focused on a team-up between Falcon and Winter Soldier for Disney's upcoming streaming service. The potential show joins other rumored MCU series starring characters like Loki and Scarlet Witch which are also reportedly being prepped for the platform. Though the studio has not confirmed the news, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are expected to reprise their roles as Falcon and Winter Soldier respectively if the series does move forward. Malcolm Spellman (Empire, Our Family Wedding) has been hired to write the proposed show. This news bolsters previous reports that Marvel was planning to develop several limited series starring MCU heroes and villains who have not already had their own standalone films, including shows about Loki and Scarlet Witch with Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olson also expected to reprise their roles. With that said, major characters like Iron Man and Captain America who have already starred in their own movies will not be featured on the streaming platform. The potential series are all expected to feature six to eight episodes each and will likely carry big budgets similar to major Hollywood productions. Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige are also set to be directly involved in the shows' development. Full details on Disney's streaming service have not been revealed yet, but the platform is set to launch in the fall of 2019. Beyond the potential Marvel shows, the service will also include a new Star Wars series from Jon Favreau called The Mandalorian. Likewise, a Monsters Inc show and a High School Musical series are also in the works. Meanwhile, movies expected to premiere on the platform include Don Quixote, Stargirl, Togo, Lady and the Tramp, The Paper Magician, 3 Men and a Baby, Sword and the Stone, Timmy Failure, Magic Camp, and Noelle. Outside of streaming news, Marvel recently released the first trailer for its upcoming Captain Marvel film. The movie is set to hit theaters on March 8, 2019. Naomi Watts Cast in GAME OF THRONES Prequel Series[teaser]The first cast member for the upcoming show has been announced.[/teaser] According to a report by Deadline, HBO has cast the lead for its upcoming Game of Thrones prequel pilot. Naomi Watts is set to star in the currently untitled series. Though exact character and plot details have not been revealed yet, Watts will play "a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret," and the show will be a prequel set eight thousand years before the events of Game of Thrones. As such, none of the cast from the current show will appear in the new series. Instead, the story will focus on a very different time in Westeros' history with a new ensemble led by Watts and a mix of strong female and male characters. Here's the previously released synopsis from HBO: Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend… it's not the story we think we know. George R. R. Martin, the author behind the Song of Ice and Fire book series, co-wrote the story for the pilot with Jane Goldman (Kingsman, X-Men: First Class). Goldman also handled the teleplay will act as the showrunner for the project. The script is the first Game of Thrones spinoff to receive a pilot order, beating out four other potential spinoffs. Some of those additional scripts are no longer under consideration while others remain a possibility for a future greenlight -- though HBO has not confirmed an exact number. Production for the pilot is expected to start next year. A director has not been announced yet. If the pilot is picked up for a full season, the show will premiere sometime after Game of Thrones finishes its run. Though an exact release date has not been announced, the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones is set to debut sometime in the first half of 2019. Everything on Amazon Prime Video in HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and/or Dolby AtmosAs 4K HDR TV and immersive audio adoption continues to grow, more and more content providers have begun to embrace HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos content. And when it comes to streaming services, Amazon Prime Video continues to offer a respectable library of HDR titles. Primarily consisting of the provider's own assortment of original series and movies, Amazon HDR support is available on virtually all current gen 4K HDR compatible smart TVs and media players with a Prime subscription. According to the company, all HDR content is available in HDR10+ via compatible Samsung 4K TV models and will default to that format on supported displays. Standard HDR10 playback is provided for displays without HDR10+ capabilities, and Dolby Vision is offered for select titles on Dolby Vision TVs from manufacturers like LG, Sony, VIZIO, TCL, and Hisense. Meanwhile, Prime Video Dolby Atmos playback is currently supported via several media players and smart TVs with Dolby Atmos output support, including the Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick 4K, Samsung TVs (2017 or newer), LG OLED TVs (2017 or newer), VIZIO TVs (2015 or newer), or Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X game consoles. Unlike some other streaming services, however, Amazon Prime Video doesn't make it quite as easy to find HDR or Dolby Atmos content through its platform on certain apps and TVs. Though scrolling down the smart TV app's "Homepage" does reveal Ultra HD categories for shows and movies, users have to select each title individually to see if they also support HDR. And even more confusing, if one switches from the "Homepage" to the "Originals" sub-heading, there are additional sections for Ultra HD shows and movies that include some titles missing from the homepage's categories and vice-versa. Likewise, searching for the keyword "HDR" does not pull up a list of HDR titles. What's worse, Amazon actually has separate listings for SDR and 4K/HDR versions of all its supported content, and only the SDR versions seem to ever appear in search results on some devices when a title is typed in. In other words, there might actually be some HDR titles currently not included in any of the app's sub-categories -- essentially making them impossible to find. And when it comes to audio, the service does not seem to currently designate Dolby Atmos support at all (Jack Ryan offers Atmos but is only labeled as 5.1 in its listing).
