New SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK Trailer is Packed with Creepy Frights[teaser]"You don't read the book, the book reads you."[/teaser] CBS Films has released the a new teaser trailer for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The film is based on the children's horror book series of the same name, and is set to hit theaters on August 9. It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind...but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home. Check out the teaser trailer below! Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark stars Zoe Margaret Colletti, Michael Garza, Austin Zajur, Gabriel Rush, and Dean Norris. The film is directed by André Øvredal (Trollhunter) and comes from a script written by Dan Hageman, Kevin Hageman, John August, Guillermo del Toro, Marcus Dunstan, and Patrick Melton. In addition, Guillermo del Toro also serves as a producer, along with Jason F. Brown, J. Miles Dale, Sean Daniel, and Elizabeth Grave. Meanwhile, Roberto Grande and Joshua Long are on board as executive producers. The original Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark book was written by Alvin Schwartz and illustrated by Stephen Gammell. The book was first published in 1981 and was followed by More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark in 1984 and Scary Stories 3: More Tales to Chill Your Bones in 1991. The premium large-format (PLF) cinema experience is set to open in spring/summer 2019. "We are very excited to be able to provide an enhanced cinematic experience to our studio partners for premieres and moviegoers alike." Developed in partnership with Cinionic, the Barco, CGS, and ALPD cinema joint venture, THX Ultimate Cinema utilizes a large format screen, Cinionic’s dual-Barco laser system, and exclusively remastered content to provide a premium movie-going experience with 4K projection and increased brightness, contrast, clarity, and colors. Likewise, the Regency Westwood Village has also received several audio and acoustic upgrades to meet THX Certified Cinema standards, including an increase in low-frequency power and the addition of curtains designed to improve the clarity and accuracy of the theater's immersive multi-dimensional sound system. Disaster Strikes in Harrowing First Trailer for HBO's CHERNOBYL[teaser]The new limited series is based on the chilling true story of the Chernobyl disaster.[/teaser] HBO has released the first trailer for Chernobyl. The upcoming five-part miniseries is set to premiere on May 6. On April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, Soviet Union suffered a massive explosion that released radioactive material across Belarus, Russia and Ukraine and as far as Scandinavia and western Europe. Chernobyl dramatizes the story of the 1986 accident, one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history, and the sacrifices made to save Europe from the unimaginable disaster. Rumor Mill: TOY STORY 1-3 Headed for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray[teaser]The beloved animated Pixar films are expected to hit the 4K format in June. [/teaser] According to The Digital Bits, Disney and Pixar are preparing Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and Toy Story 3 for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray this summer. Samsung Unveils New Q Series Sound Bars[teaser]The company's new sound bar models have been detailed.[/teaser] Samsung has announced two new sound bars as part of its Q Series collection. The lineup includes the HW-Q70R and HW-Q60R. Both sound bars feature Samsung Acoustic Beam technology and the company's new Adaptive Sound feature. Acoustic Beam technology creates a wider and more dynamic soundscape through the use of an array of holes in the speaker. Meanwhile, Adaptive Sound allows the sound bars to analyze the content being played and then adjust the settings to suit individual scenes. Bluetooth wireless connectivity is included on both units as well. In addition, the HW-Q70R model also offers Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support for overhead audio, along with a slim form factor designed to complement Samsung's QLED TVs. "Through Adaptive Sound, which understands the sound and optimizes it according to the scene, listeners can enjoy even more realistic sound for every genre of content," said Jongsuk Chu, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. "The new Q-Series soundbars carry sound quality that has been revitalized by experts and feature designs that offer an appealing home aesthetic to create a better home theater experience for our customers." The HW-Q70R and HW-Q60R are set to launch in April. Pricing for the HW-Q70R has not been announced yet, but the HW-Q60R is currently listed for $499.99 on Samsung's website.
