The Trailer Park: The Rhythm in Your Heart

Drama, romance and lots of music! That’s the theme for this pair of trailers. However, Tom Cruise’s flick doesn’t seem to have much romance in it – unless romance has been confused with copious amounts of steamy sexuality. Whatever the reason, these two films aim for rhythm and soul.

‘Musical Chairs’

I don’t care at all for the recent slew of dance movies that have been released in the last few years, but something about this small, independent flick has me very interested to see it. According to the preview, the movie starts off like a retread of ‘Step Up’, the vomit-inducing teen drama that brought Channing Tatum into prominence. But after a while, it reveals an amusing plot about a kid wanting to start a program for the physically challenged. Or at least, that’s what it looks like. I was smiling at the end of the two minutes, so I’ll definitely check this out.

‘Rock of Ages’

Finally showing his true colors, Tom Cruise stars as an egomaniac rock star in the big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical. Celebrating the era of big hair and hard rock that pervaded the mid-to-late 1980s, ‘Rock of Ages’ looks as if it has potential to entertain, and the trailer makes it seem like lots of fun. From director Adam Shankman, who also brought us the remake of ‘Hairspray’, the movie won’t have me running to theaters, but I’ll give it a shot when it hits Blu-ray.

When Tom Cruise does shit like ‘Magnolia’ and ‘Tropic Thunder’ it looks like he’s trying to expel scientology from his body via self-exorcism.

I hope ‘Rock of Ages’ has that level of grotesque unlookawayableness.
