Fine, I’ll Watch One Episode of ‘The Cape’ Now… One.

No doubt like most of you, I’ve viewed the promos for NBC’s upcoming superhero series ‘The Cape’ with disdain. It looks like a third-rate knockoff of the worst season of ‘Heroes‘. And that’s no small feat to make a show look worse than ‘Heroes’. Someone really has to be trying hard to make that happen. Yet here I am begrudgingly admitting that the latest ads have convinced me to at least watch the pilot episode. Why? Two words: Summer Glau.

Sci-fi fans (and nerds in general) first fell in love with Summer Glau for her role as River Tam in ‘Firefly‘ and ‘Serenity‘. She capitalized on that with a two-season run in ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles‘, and recently made guest appearances in ‘Dollhouse‘, ‘The Big Bang Theory‘ (as herself), and ‘Chuck‘. She also performed the voice of Supergirl in the animated ‘Superman/Batman: Apocalypse‘ movie. Glau has nerd cred out the wazoo.

Here’s the promo that plays up her participation in the new show:

The role is being described as a sexy crime-fighting blogger named Orwell.

Ugh.

This show is going to be atrocious, isn’t it? I guess we’ll know exactly how atrocious when it premieres on January 9th.

I’m excited for this one and Glau only tops it off.

Regarding the Chuck appearance, my reaction was “Holy shit” in regards to how smoking hot she looked. Couldn’t hardly believe it since I found her unattractive in Firefly and Terminator.
