Stu Segall's 'Drive-in Massacre' Announced for Blu-ray

[/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Severin Films says 'Drive-in Massacre' will be available on Blu-ray on March 14. It was one of the few true slasher movies to pre-date HALLOWEEN and FRIDAY THE 13th, and remains the closest you'll ever come to an actual seedy '70s drive-in experience: It's a hot summer night in Southern California and the local passion pit is packed with patrons. But when a sword-wielding psycho begins carving up customers, it'll unspool a grubby cavalcade of creepy carnies, peeping perverts, graphic decapitations and an ending you have to see/hear to believe. John F. [teaser]Four new projector models have been detailed.[/teaser] Epson has announced its new lineup of Ultra-Portable PowerLite projectors. The 1700-Series includes the 1795F, 1785W, 1781W, and 1780W. "Thin as a laptop and just four pounds, the PowerLite 1700-Series are lightweight and wireless projectors, ideal for road warriors that require bright images, optimized connectivity and HD quality presentations," said Eric Uaje, product manager, Projectors, Epson America, Inc. Don Coscarelli’s 'The Phantasm Collection' Blu-ray Announced

[/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Well Go USA is preparing 'The Phantasm Collection' for Blu-ray on March 28. One of the world’s most popular franchises in the history of horror, the Phantasm film series has terrified fans for generations. The collection features all five frightening films in the series – PHANTASM: REMASTERED (1979), PHANTASM II (1988), PHANTASM III: LORD OF THE DEAD (1994), PHANTASM IV: OBLIVION (1998) and the most recent installment PHANTASM: RAVAGER (2016). Netflix Debuts Teaser for 'Love' Season Two, Streaming Premiere Set for March 10

[teaser]The streaming romcom series will return in March.[/teaser] Netflix has released a teaser for the second season of 'Love.' The show comes from creators Judd Apatow ('40 Year Old Virgin,' 'Trainwreck'), Lesley Arfin ('Brooklyn Nine-Nine,' 'Awkward') and Paul Rust ('Arrested Development'). Love follows nice guy Gus (Paul Rust) and brazen wild-child Mickey (Gillian Jacobs) as they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, love and other things they were hoping to avoid. 'Film' and 'Notfilm' Announced for Blu-ray

[teaser]Both films will be available on Blu-ray in March. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Milestone is preparing 'Film' and 'Notfilm' for Blu-ray on March 7. 'Film' by Samuel Beckett, the great playwright's only venture into the medium of the cinema, was written in 1963 and filmed in New York City in the summer of 1964. The project brought together an illustrious group of collaborators: screenwriter (and future Nobel laureate) Beckett traveled from Paris at the behest of the producer, publisher, and First Amendment champion Barney Rosset joining forces with theater director Alan Schneider, Oscar-winning cinematographer Boris Kaufman, and silent-comedy genius, Buster Keaton. Acclaimed film editor Sidney Meyers added his talents to the film in post-production. The product of their efforts, 'Film' by Samuel Beckett, has no dialogue and takes as its basis philosopher George Berkeley's theory Esse est percipi to be is to be perceived. In essence, after all outside perception be it animal, human, or divine is suppressed, self-perception remains. 'Film' by Samuel Beckett premiered at the 1965 New York Film Festival and went on to win many international awards. Critics, literary scholars, and audiences have continued to be dazzled and intrigued by the film. Mark Nixon of the Beckett International Foundation calls 'Film' by Samuel Beckett an intriguing and vital document in Samuel Beckett's life-long engagement and fascination with perception, and the image. Restorationist Ross Lipman worked with Rosset to preserve and digitize Film by Samuel Beckett on behalf of the UCLA Film & Television Archive and was inspired to make a documentary Notfilm (2015), exploring the creation and meaning of this fascinating cinema treasure. Special features include: Waiting for Godot, 1961, 104 minutes. Written by Samuel Beckett. Directed by Alan Schneider for Play of the Week. Starring Zero Mostel and Burgess Meredith. Restored by UCLA Film & Television Archive; and The Dog and Cat Outtakes from Film by Samuel Beckett. 8 minutes. 'Notfilm' is Ross Lipman's acclaimed kino-essay on the making and meaning of 'Film' by Samuel Beckett. Unlike any other film for its in-depth, mesmerizing analysis of one short film, it has been acclaimed by critics and audiences everywhere. Lipman's obsession with 'Film' began when, as a teenaged cinephile, he first learned that Irish Nobel Prize-winning playwright Samuel Beckett had written a short that starred silent film genius Buster Keaton. Decades later, Lipman, now an accomplished film restorationist, jumped at the chance to preserve 'Film' and to meet and talk with the extraordinary man who produced it, maverick publisher and First Amendment champion Barney Rosset. During a visit to Rosset's NYC loft, Lipman asked if there was any extra footage from the 1964 shoot. The reels that he discovered under the sink in the publisher's kitchen started Lipman on the long road from 'Film' to 'Notfilm.' For more than seven years he traveled the world interviewing friends, family, and collaborators including Beckett's biographer James Knowlson, film historian Kevin Brownlow, actress Billie Whitelaw, Keaton's friend (and actor in 'Film') James Karen, and writer Leonard Maltin who visited the set as a star-struck 14-year-old Buster fan. CyberLink Bundles PowerDVD Ultra HD Blu-ray Software with Pioneer Ultra HD Blu-ray Drives

The new software will be included with Pioneer's BDR-S11J-BK & BDR-S11J-X, which are expected to start shipping by the end of February. "As a member of the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), CyberLink is working closely with PC manufacturers to lead consumers to the ultimate 4K experience," said Dr. Jau Huang, CEO of CyberLink. "PowerDVD is already recognized as the number one solution for playing media content on Windows PCs, and with the added support of Ultra HD Blu-ray we are excited to bring next-generation technology in home and personal entertainment to every family." With the customized PowerDVD software and a Pioneer Ultra HD Blu-ray drive, users will be able to play Ultra HD Blu-ray discs through supported PC setups.
