Two Tribes, best known for the 'Toki Tori' franchise, has announced their next project. It's called RIVE, built on the 'Toki Tori 2+' engine, but, frankly, nothing like that game at all:
"We’ve been working feverishly with our new base team of just three people to be able to announce RIVE to the world.
So what did we make!? We call it RIVE and we describe it as ‘the metal wrecking, robot hacking shooter’. It’s a 2D shooter / platformer with old school gaming values in a decidedly new school execution. During the game’s intense 360 degree shooting and platforming action, players learn to alter the behavior of their robotic enemies by collecting and uploading hacks."
Here's the announcement trailer. Keep your eyes peeled towards the end to get a better idea of what's going on.
Two Tribes has effectively risen from the ashes to make this game, rebuilding itself after poor 'Toki Tori 2' sales that lead to a complete shutdown in 2013.
The team is aiming to release 'RIVE' on Steam and the three major consoles in early 2015, though they haven't quite nailed down those details.
