Monster Madness: Vermithrax vs. Cooper – Darkness vs. Executioner

Stay Puft held his own against the menacing Mountain King Troll, and will onto the next round of Monster Madness. In Tuesday’s other match-up, Chucky easily ousted the Leprechaun. Today, we’ll find out if dragons are stronger than aliens, and what happens when two evil foes go head-to-head.

The internet says that the ‘Super 8’ monster’s name is Cooper, so I’ll go with it. Just in case anyone is confused, we’re talking about the alien monster from ‘Super 8’ that builds giant magnets out of stolen car parts and electrical wires. Facing him today will be Vermithrax Pejorative, the badass dragon from ‘Dragonslayer’. Who’s gonna win?

Vermithrax Pejorative – This fire-breathing monstrosity is truly one of the more frightening dragons out there. Plus, she’s just really, really cool. If you saw ‘Dragonslayer’ in your younger days, chances are that you were totally taken with her complete awesomeness.

Strengths: Like many dragons, Vermithrax Pejorative breathes fire and has the ability to fly. She’s huge, agile and intimidating. She’s a strong entry in the tournament, for sure.

Weaknesses: Uh, exploding wizards?

Cooper – He came from outer space, was rounded up by the government and treated inhumanely until he broke free. Can you blame him for being a little ill-tempered when he finally found his freedom?

Strengths: Besides being rather agile on his spider-like limbs, he possesses superior intelligence that could be used to turn the tables on a giant dragon.

Weaknesses: Small, unaggressive children that show an interest in his subterranean architecture. However, this really isn’t that much of a weakness since he was able to leave the planet without much physical harm.

How do you score this battle? On one hand, you have the Prince of Darkness himself. On the other, you have a monster that almost assuredly was created by Satan. Maybe Satan holds stock in the Umbrella Corporation. Who knows? All I know is that the Executioner from ‘Resident Evil’ looks like he’s going to give the devil a run for his money.

Darkness – You have to admire that Ridley Scott went all out for the look of Darkness in ‘Legend’. Those horns alone look like they weigh around 20 pounds each. He’s a pretty scary-looking devil, not to mention completely ripped.

Strengths: Well, for starters, he looks like he works out daily. He’s also the ruler of the underworld. He has abilities to deceive and commands all type of black magic.

Weaknesses: Tom Cruise and light.

Executioner – A.K.A. the Axeman. Shrouded in a blood-stained hood and smock, the Executioner is an imposing force indeed. He doesn’t say much, but he doesn’t need to. The giant axe he wields does most of the talking for him.

Strengths: Seriously, that axe is as big as he is – and he’s huge. Also, like Darkness, Executioner appears to have a membership to the same evil gym.

Weaknesses: Hot chicks toting guns and angst.

  1. The dragon will roast that stupid alien. The other battle is tougher. The Executioner is a lot more violent in his movie, but Darkness wins for overall coolness.

  2. I had to vote Vermithrax and Darkness, despite really liking their competition.

Vermithrax is nearly indestructible/unstoppable if memory serves, and the alien’s only advantage is its intelligence. We never really know how smart Vermithrax is, so it could be even odds even in that respect.

Darkness is Darkness. I really enjoyed The Executioner, but, well, he’s up against Darkness!! The single coolest ‘devil’ ever, and he’s so cool he manages to be that within a film that overall was a flop! He’s just THAT good. so yeah, Darkness. 😉
