Wednesday is a national holiday in the United States. Like most of our American readers, we here at High-Def Digest are taking the day off to relax, watch some fireworks, and maybe catch a summer movie. Will you trek out to theaters either on July 4th or this weekend? If so, what do you plan to see? Vote in our poll, and we’ll see you back here on Thursday.
You may vote for as many options as you’d like.

I’ll be watching ID4.

Not going to the theater tomorrow, but will hopefully find a way to drag the fiance to Spiderman this weekend.

I’ll stay at home. I’ve got fireworks DVDs and can simultaneously play CDs of John Philip Sousa or whatever. I’ll also watch some “America Rock” segments of Schoolhouse Rock!.
I also have an idea for a movie marathon, but we’ll see how that goes.

The movie marathon was awesome. I decided to bask in my freedom by watching not just a trilogy but a triad of trilogies: Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi; Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and Toy Story 3; and Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Son of Frankenstein. Of course, freedom has its price: I started about 7:15am and went on through 11:15pm, stopping in the afternoon to run an errand but otherwise keeping breaks to a minimum. Still, it was quite the blast. I just wish I didn’t have to return to work this morning…!

I’ve already seen Ted, and my local theaters already yanked Prometheus (which I never got a chance to check out), so it’s Spidey or bust for me.

I saw MIB3 and Abraham Lincoln (which rocked) this past weekend. All the local theaters have pulled Prometheus (which I planed to see last weekend). I got the free ticket for Ted, so I may go see that. If not, its Snow White or Spidy.

Boo Hiss! No Ted for me this week – the closest theater that I can use the free ticket at is 20 miles from me!I think the one that is around the corner from where I work takes the free tickets, so I may stop off there one day after work. This may work out fine if it plays at a decent time – I am usually too tired to make the commute home after work anyways

No holiday here in the UK lol! (Unsurprisingly) We have to wait for November 5th. Oddly enough, I might be going to the cinema tonight though. Probably to see Snow White. 🙂

Same here. I’m going to “21 Jump Street”. Which hit cinemas after its American Blu-ray debut, one of the biggest delays in a long time. Probably because no one over here has ever seen the original series.

Someone said to me once “They don’t have fourth of July in Britain?” I said “Of course they do, it happens every year, right after the third of July”.
Seriously, I think some of my friends must have flunked history – they just do not understand why Britain would not celebrate American Independance Day. Sigh.

AuthorSounds to me like that person flunked more than History. They flunked life.
EM
I could understand if some Britons wanted to celebrate the separation from us…

I chose BBQ and fireworks, I’ll be going to a BBQ but no fire works shows for me since I live in Colorado, though the soccer and lacrosse teams are having fireworks shows at their respective stadiums, unfortunately can’t make it to those. I recorded last years show on my iPad so I’ll probably watch that with my friends.
Happy 4TH everyone

AuthorMrs. Z and I saw Moonrise Kingdom today. Great movie, probably Wes Anderson’s best since Rushmore.

Saw Prometheus earlier tonight. It was great. Really enjoyed it a lot. Kind of scary at times. Well-written, original for the most part, good cast, definitely a Ridley Scott film. I want to see it again.

3 Sundance 2012 movies on that list and you should see them all.
