Sony looking to complement 'LittleBigPlanet 3' with mobile and PS Vita counterpart.
Approaching the 'LittleBigPlanet 3' release for both PS3 and PS4, Sony thought it time to reveal a little side project, an endless runner called 'Run Sackboy! Run!' It's free-to-play and coming to PS Vita, iOS and Android devices.
From the Playstation Blog:
"Using simple tap and swipe gestures, you’ll speed through three iconic worlds from the LittleBigPlanet series — The Gardens, The Canyons, and Avalonia — evading danger for as long you can. Anyone can enjoy the game, but as Sackboy charges along at top speed, you’re going to need super-quick reactions to keep him on course and out of trouble."
The various mechanics in place make it out to be 'Jetpack Joyride'-inspired, with an ongoing mission ladder and unlockables like the glider, jetpack, shield and magnet. You'll be hopping around for bubbles (read: coins) too, which you can use to unlock stickers in 'LittleBigPlanet' fashion.
Most importantly, to both Sony and prospective 'LittleBigPlanet 3' owners, playing the mobile game is how you unlock a small collection of exclusive costumes in the upcoming full-fledged console games, though if it turns out to be a popular little marketing device, you can bet they keep the incentive train rolling down the line.
Sony is giving 'Run Sackboy! Run!' an October release, putting a nice comfortable cushion between the iOS, Android and PS Vita experience before the big boy, 'LittleBigPlanet 3,' hits PS4 and PS3 on Nov. 18.
