A listing for two 'Mario Kart 8' "add on content" packs have shown up on the Nintendo UK online storefront. Both packs include a collection of characters, maps and karts, and surprisingly, not all directly from the Mario universe.
The first pack, due in the UK in Nov. 2014, includes characters Cat Mario, Cat Peach and Link, from 'The Legend of Zelda.' Two entire Grand Prix cups-worth of maps will ship as well, including classics like "Wario’s Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii, as well as new courses, some taking place in the worlds of The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing," according to the listing.
The listing for the first pack only makes mention of one new kart, that being the iconic Blue Falcon from the F-Zero franchise.
Specificaly, each AOC pack, as Nintendo is calling them, will net the player three characters, four karts and eight new maps. The second pack is planned for release in the UK in May 2015. The only known quantities right now for that pack are the characters - the Villager and Isabelle from 'Animal Crossing,' and Dry Bowser, the Dry Bones incarnation of Mario's greatest foe.
Finally, if one purchases both AOC packs, he/she will recieve eight differently colored Yoshis and eight differently colored Shy Guys as usable characters. The listing makes mention of a bundle in addition to individual prices, so there might be some discounting going on.
Feel free to pick through these two images, the one on the left representing AOC 1 and on the left AOC 2. It looks like there are 'F-Zero' and 'Animal Crossing' themed maps.
So far the listings have only shown up for the UK territory, each pack at £7, which converts to $11.60. Nintendo is sure to get those characters to the U.S. territory at some point.
