'Tekken' Developer Says There Won't be Paid DLC for Characters in Tekken Games
Wed Apr 18, 2012 at 12:30 PM ETTags: Tekken, Tekken X Street Fighter, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, DLC (all tags)
Producer Katsuhiro Harada says that the characters are essential and shouldn't be charged for separately.
There were plenty of fans upset about the way DLC was handled in 'Street Fighter X Tekken' and as it turns out, 'Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada wasn't too excited about it either.
" I see the characters and their move sets as chess pieces--they are essential items necessary in the game," he says. " we would never sell any of those individually."
That doesn't mean there won't be DLC at all in 'Tekken X Street Fighter' or 'Tekken Tag Tournament ,' but you can expect it to be more aesthetic in nature – no essential game components.

Old School 'SSX' Characters and Track DLC Coming May 1st
Tue Apr 17, 2012 at 10:30 AM ETTags: SSX, DLC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 (all tags)
The track brings back the classic 'SSX' look and a few music tracks from the old games as well.
The new 'SSX' game has been met with a lot of love from critics and fans alike, but the new style leaves some fans cold. Two pieces of DLC will be hitting on May 1st that bring the old games back for a bit.
If the characters are what you're missing, you can pick up the $5.99 Classic Characters Bundle Pack and get seven characters from the past complete with alternate outfits and unique snowboards.
The track, Mt. Eddie, also runs $5.99 and includes nine massive drops, retro music and the sort of flash and sizzle that fans of the older games will appreciate.
You can also pick up both packs at once for $7.99, which seems like the obvious choice.

A 'Dark Souls' Announcement is On the Way
Wed Mar 21, 2012 at 10:30 AM ETTags: DLC, Rumors and Speculation, Dark Souls (all tags)
Could this be the much demanded PC version?
If you haven't played 'Dark Souls' then you've been missing out on one of the most surprising gaming experiences of 2011. It's the spiritual successor to 'Demon's Souls' and it was an incredible hit, which came as a big surprise. This niche title blew up in a big way.
Namco Bandai just updated the 'Dark Souls' Facebook page with the promise of an announcement about the game hidden behind a wall that can only be broken by people clicking "like." A cheap ploy to get some Facebook love certainly, but more 'Dark Souls' is something well worth liking.
There's a lot of speculation about what this announcement could be and its basically come down to two possibilities. The first is a 'Dark Souls' DLC pack, which seems logical considering that an early 2012 release is what we expected to see.
The second is a much more exciting prospect for some players – a PC version of the game. A petition went out some time ago and it was big enough to get the attention of the folks at Namco Bandai, so we have high hopes that we'll see something develop.

Some Paid 'Street Fighter X Tekken' DLC Already on Disc
Mon Mar 19, 2012 at 01:30 PM ETTags: Street Fighter X Tekken, DLC, Capcom (all tags)
Theoretically, that's over $100 worth of DLC – realistically it's about $50.
Capcom isn't making a lot of friends with plans for its latest fighting game. 'Street Fighter X Tekken' has been getting some great reviews and fans are digging it, but the plans for downloadable content have some folks up in arms.
The issue is that the content that's being sold as DLC is already on the game disc. This includes, apparently, 12 new characters and two alternate costumes for each of 25 characters. That's a significant amount of content that's already technically in the hands of gamers, even if they can't access it.
The fun headline to throw around is that over $100 worth of DLC is already on the disc, but that's only true if you're the kind of person who hates buying anything in inexpensive bundles. The 100 alternate costumes run a buck a piece, but you can pick them all up at once for $26.

Three 'Battlefield 3' Expansions Coming This Year - So are Custom Servers
Wed Mar 07, 2012 at 11:30 AM ETTags: Battlefield 3, Close Quarters, Armor King, Expansions, DLC, DICE (all tags)
The first and second expansions will be focused on infantry and vehicle combat respectively.
The folks over at EA are keeping 'Battlefield 3' going in a big way thanks to three expansions being launched this year.
The first expansion to 'Battlefield 3,' 'Close Quarters', will focus on short-range infantry fights. In addition to the 10 added weapons, each map will have more destructible terrain. The second, 'Armor King,' is the opposite - big open spaces with plenty of room for vehicular combat.
In addition to these new expansions, EA will give console players the ability to rent and set up custom servers. This will allow people to experience the game in just the way they want.
