‘Persons’ Unaired

‘Persons’ Unaired

Maybe I’m the last viewer out there still watching, and still really digging, ‘Persons Unknown’. It sure feels that way sometimes. If there are any other fans out there, you probably noticed that NBC ran sports programming in its timeslot this past Saturday. The good news is that the show will return with a new episode this coming Saturday. (At least, that’s currently the plan.) The bad news is that NBC has pulled one of the following episodes and won’t air it at all. Gee, it sure is a good thing that this isn’t a serial narrative that relies heavily on continuity from one episode to the next to make sense of the story. Oh, wait….

HD Recap: Hey Joe, What Do You Know?

HD Recap: Hey Joe, What Do You Know?

In ‘Persons Unknown’ this week, we’re given our most significant look behind the scenes of the conspiracy that brought our group of abductees to the strange little town they can’t leave. The Joe storyline also takes an interesting turn, and the episode ends with a cliffhanger sure to shake things up further in subsequent episodes. Yet it also leaves me with at least one major question that I just can’t reconcile.

HD Recap: “The Way Out Is the Way Through”

In a strange twist, most of the interesting developments in this week’s episode of ‘Persons Unknown’ happen outside the mysterious town. In fact, very little of note in ‘Saved’ happens in town at all. Most of the time is split between Renbe and whatshername the girlfriend investigating the case in South America, and Joe in… well, we’re not exactly sure where he is. But we finally learn who he is. (Spoilers after the break.)

HD Recap: Well, That Sure Killed My Appetite for Chinese Food

HD Recap: Well, That Sure Killed My Appetite for Chinese Food

This week, we’ve officially passed the half-way mark for ‘Persons Unknown’. The show is only scheduled to run for a total of 13 episodes. All of the network promos have promised that the series will have a finite run, and that mysteries will be answered by the end of the summer. I’m not sure exactly how many of those mysteries will be answered, or how satisfactory those answers will be, but I can confirm that episode ‘Smoke and Steel’ already starts to give us some pretty serious clues as to the nature of the forces behind our characters’ abductions. I wish more people were watching this show. It’s getting pretty good. (Spoilers after the break.)

HD Recap: Turn Around, Bright Eyes

HD Recap: Turn Around, Bright Eyes

This past week, NBC bumped ‘Persons Unknown’ out of its usual Monday night timeslot and moved it to the Saturday death slot. That’s probably not a good sign. Its ratings must be pretty bad, even for summer programming on the 4th place network. I just hope that NBC doesn’t pull it off the air in favor of 6 year-old ‘Law & Order: SVU’ reruns before we get any closure from this storyline. I, for one, am still digging the show. Episode ‘The Truth’ really just reinforces how much I’d like to see this through to the end.

HD Recap: “There Is a Wolf in Me”

Last week’s episode of ‘Persons Unknown’, called ‘Incoming’, gave us a peek behind the curtain at the forces in town watching our band of abductees. Just a little peek, though. The network broadcast also had a very strange and disorienting glitch that left this viewer puzzled as to whether it was an intentional part of the show or just a screw-up. I’m pretty sure it was the latter, but with this series you never know.

Emmy Nominations: The Year of ‘Glee’

The 2010 Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced yesterday morning. ‘Glee’ and ‘The Pacific’ led the pack with 19 nominations and 24 nominations respectively. I’m sure both programs will bring home a lot of those trophies. Follow us after the break for a rundown of the major categories, plus some commentary.

HD Recap: “Do You Believe in the Process?”

There’s a lot going on in this week’s episode of ‘Persons Unknown’, called ‘Exit One’. Not the least of these developments is that some characters do indeed find an exit out of town. Sort of. Beyond that is an even bigger revelation at the end. This is a terrific episode all-around, and the best of the show so far. Let’s take a look at everything that happened in the spoilerific recap.

HD Recap: “Maybe We Should Work Harder Not Escaping”

Strange things are still afoot in the weird little town where the ‘Persons Unknown’ find themselves trapped. I suppose that goes without saying. In last week’s episode, ‘The Way Through’, our band of abductees decide that if they can’t walk or drive out of town, perhaps they can dig a tunnel underneath it. As the episode starts, we’re told that they’ve been digging for a week, and have nearly reached what should be the border. Just as they get there, however, they hit a steel barrier. A siren blares, shutters in the barrier open, and gas fills the tunnel. Uh oh.

HD Recap: ‘Persons’ of Interest

It’s official. I’m digging ‘Persons Unknown’ on NBC. The first episode set up an intriguing mystery plot. The second episode, ‘The Edge’, has me hooked. Maybe this isn’t the next ‘Lost’, but as a limited run miniseries with a set conclusion, it’s certainly worth watching over the summer.
