'Being Human: Season Five' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]The final six episodes of the BBC fantasy series will hit Blu-ray in August. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, BBC has slated 'Being Human: Season Five' for Blu-ray on August 20. Season Five follows Hal (Damien Molony), Tom (Michael Socha) and Alex (Kate Bracken) as they continue their search for their lost humanity. But numerous threats once again lurk around every corner. There is the volatile and deluded Crumb (Colin Hoult), a newly recruited vampire, and the sinister Mr. Rook (Steven Robertson), head of a secret government department tasked with keeping supernatural activity under wraps. With bills to be paid, our heroes take jobs in a kitschy hotel where, alongside the tacky décor and cocktail umbrellas, dwells an evil greater than anything Hal, Tom and Alex have faced before: Captain Hatch (Phil Davis). On the face of it, he's just another foul-mouthed, decrepit old man, but he hides a dark secret that threatens not only our heroes' friendships but the entire world. 'Punk Vacation' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]Stanley Lewis' cult 1990 crime thriller will be sporting a remastered Blu-ray in July. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Vinegar Syndrome is set to release 'Punk Vacation' on Blu-ray on July 9. A peaceful California town is shaken after the brutal murder of diner owner by a gang of vicious punks. When the daughter of the slain man attempts to avenge her father's death, she's held hostage by the gang resulting in an epic battle between punks and rednecks. Specs have yet to be revealed, but the film has been restored in 2K from a 35mm answer print and supplements for the Blu-ray will include: Video interview with Producer, Stephen Fusci; Video interview with Stuntman, Steven Rowland; and a bonus feature: Nomad Riders. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Starz/Anchor Bay is preparing '6 Souls' for Blu-ray on July 2. After the death of her husband, forensic psychiatrist Dr. Cara Harding's (Julianne Moore) faith in God has been shaken, but not her belief in science. In an attempt to open her up to accepting unexplainable psychiatric theories, her father introduces her to Adam (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers), a patient with multiple personalities, who takes on some of the physical characteristics of his other personalities. Regal Expanding Sony Entertainment Access System Capability to 6,000 Screens[teaser]Personal captioning, descriptive video, and audio assistance available for Regal moviegoers.[/teaser] Regal Entertainment Group's deployment of the Sony Entertainment Access System is expanding. Already it has reached 400 theaters in the US, and the plan is to bring the system to 6,000 screens by the end of the month. In contrast to the very limited offerings of open captioned film showings, the Sony entertainment Access System utilizes a set of glasses, headphones, and a wireless receiver to offer multiple forms of assistance for movie goers. The system can be used to display closed captions on glasses, and captions that describe the film's audio. By plugging the headphones into the receiver, the system can also increase the volume for the listener or even provide an audio description of the on-screen action. The system works for both 2D and 3D films with one caveat. The system is dependent on the movie-makers for providing the captions. As Regal continues to roll out the system by pairing a Sony Entertainment Access System with each theater's projection system, moviegoers need only request an Accessibility Device at equipped theaters. Viewers can then use the system without the need to affect others and without requiring a special screening. 'Amityville 3D' Gets Blu-ray 3D Release![teaser]The disc in the upcoming trilogy boxed set will be Blu-ray 3D compatible! [/teaser] As previously reported, Scream Factory has revealed that they are planning to bring 'The Amityville Horror Trilogy' to Blu-ray sometime before Halloween. This set will include 'The Amityville Horror,' 'Amityville II: The Possession,' and 'Amityville 3-D.' Shout Factory has now confirmed that 'Amityville 3-D' will be getting a Blu-ray 3D upgrade: "We can now officially confirm that our upcoming Amityville Horror Trilogy blu-ray box set will include the film AMITYVILLE 3-D (1983) in Blu-ray 3-D!! (2-D version also included too.) To our knowledge, this marks the first time an 80′s 3-D film has been presented in a Blu-ray 3-D format.
