'The Party' Blu-ray Bound[teaser]The Peter Sellers' comedy will be crashing the party on Blu-ray in August. You can pre-order the movie now. [/teaser]In an early announcement to retailers, Kino is preparing 'The Party' for Blu-ray on August 26. In one of their few non-Clouseau efforts, director Blake Edwards and star Peter Sellers preserve the spirit of the French bumbler in the person of Hrundi V. Bakshi, an accident-prone Indian actor. Brought to Hollywood to play the title role in Son Of Gunga Din, Bakshi destroys the film's most elaborate set with his bungling and is banned from the set by the film's producer. But because of an error by the producer's secretary, Bakshi's name is added to the guest list of his next party, an A-list affair. Shortly after arriving, Bakshi begins accidentally dismantling the producer's carefully staged event, destroying a flower bed, knocking a servant through a bay window, and triggering the lawn sprinklers, soaking his pretentious guests. Sellers is typically brilliant in a film abounding in sidesplitting sight gags with a script by Edwards, Frank Waldman ('The Pink Panther Strikes Again') and his brother Tom Waldman ('Inspector Clouseau'). Specs and supplements have not been detailed yet. Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $29.95. LG Drops Price of OLED TV... Again[teaser]LG has once again slashed the price of its 55-inch OLED display. [/teaser] After already cutting the price just a few weeks ago, LG is offering another price reduction for its 55EA9800. The OLED TV will now retail for $3,999, a whopping 73 percent off of its original price. The television made its debut in July 2013 at $15,000, and has received several price adjustments over the last year. The 55EA9800 uses a 1080p OLED (organic light-emitting diode) curved-screen panel which offers superior contrast and black levels over traditional LCD technology. The set also features 3D capabilities, LG's proprietary WRGB four-color pixel system, THX certified picture, and Smart TV functions. Finally, the display comes complete with four 3D glasses and is ENERGY STAR certified. In addition to the curved-screen model, LG is also selling the 55EA8800 flat-screen OLED which has received a similar price drop from $5,499 to $4,499. Though OLED support is dwindling from other companies due to high manufacturing costs, LG has continued to pledge support for the technology, promising several new displays in 2014. With that said, pricing and availability for the proposed 2014 models remain unknown. Source: TV PredictionsPosted Mon Jun 9, 2014 at 05:00 PM PDT by: -
