'Step Up 2: The Streets' Dances onto Blu-ray this July[teaser]Disney has announced a July next-gen release for the urban romance 'Step Up 2: The Streets,' which will hit Blu-ray with extensive bonus features.[/teaser] Grossing nearly $60 million at the domestic box office this past winter, Disney will debut 'Step Up 2: The Streets' in a Blu-ray "Dance-Off Edition" on July 15, day-and-date with the standard DVD. Among the supplements shared across both versions are 3 featurettes ("Thru Fresh Eyes," "Outlaws of Hip Hop: Meet the 410s," "Robert Hoffman Video Prank"), deleted scenes, bloopers, and 5 music videos ("Low" by Flo Rida featuring T.Pain, "Ching-a-Ling" by Missy Elliott, "Killa" featuring Yung Joc, "Hypnotized" featuring Akon, and "Let it Go" by Brit and Alex). Tech specs boast 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and English uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround audio, plus English, French and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and subtitle options. Paramount Reschedules 'Blades of Glory' Blu-ray for May[teaser]After yanking the Blu-ray from their next-gen schedule, Paramount has re-set 'Blades of Glory' for a May release.[/teaser] subsequently pulled 'Blades of Glory' at the last minute before it hit store shelves (with the few copies that leaked out to retailers quickly becoming a much sought-after collector's item). Fans still scouring eBay for a Blu-ray copy of the Will Ferrell-Jon Heder smash comedy can now stop looking, as Paramount has confirmed it will debut the long-shelved release on Blu-ray on May 20. First Look: 'Tinker Bell' Blu-ray Box Art[teaser]The Blu-ray won't arrive until October, but we've got an early peek at the box art for Disney's first animated direct-to-video high-def release.[/teaser] As we've previously reported, Disney has announced an October 28 Blu-ray debut for 'Tinker Bell' (day-and-date with the standard DVD), the first in a series of four Tinker Bell direct-to-video films. Among the confirmed bonus features are a making-of featurette, an interactive game, and two interactive guides, "NaturePedia" and "The Guide to Pixie Hollow" -- the latter exclusive to Blu-ray and enhanced with BD-Live functionality. Tech specs include 1080p video and the studio's usual uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround audio (at 48kHz/24-bit). 'Bee Movie' Blu-ray Box Art, Specs Revealed[teaser]'Bee Movie' is buzzing to Blu-ray this May and the full specs and box art are now in, with the next-gen release including a hive's worth of exclusive content.[/teaser] As previously reported, Paramount's long-awaited return to Blu-ray includes a May 20 Blu-ray debut for the Jerry Seinfeld animated smash. (The studio previously announced an HD DVD version of 'Bee Movie,' only to cancel the title following the demise of the format) Extras shared with the two-disc DVD edition (which Paramount released earlier this year) include audio commentary with Seinfeld and the filmmakers, four making-of featurettes ("Jerry's Flight Over Cannes," "Inside The Hive: The Cast of Bee Movie," "Tech of Bee Movie," "Meet Barry B. Benson"), deleted scenes and alternate endings with optional commentary, a music video, "TV Juniors" shorts that first aired on NBC, and a suite of "DreamWorks Animation Kids" interactive activities ("The Buzz About Bees," "The Ow! Meter," "That's Un-BEE-lievable!", "Pollination Practice," "Be A Bee"). Exclusive to the Blu-ray will be several additional features, including "The Animators' Corner" a picture-in-picture storyboard reel that runs the length of the film, "Barry's Trivia Track" pop-up fun facts and "My Menus" which allow users to customize the disc's navigation based on their favorite character. Warner Saddles Up 'Pale Rider' Blu-ray for August[teaser]In an early pre-announce, Warner has unveiled plans to bring the 1985 cult Clint Eastwood western 'Pale Rider' to Blu-ray this August.[/teaser] Timed to coincide with Warner's year-long 85th anniversary western celebration, 'Pale Rider' will debut on Blu-ray on August 26 in a newly-remastered edition. Paramount Adds Exclusives to 'Cloverfield' Blu-ray[teaser]Paramount has unleashed specs and box art for 'Cloverfield,' which will hit Blu-ray this June with an exclusive picture-in-graphics track.[/teaser] As we reported earlier, Paramount marked their return to Blu-ray with a spate of titles that included a June 3 arrival for the horror hit 'Cloverfield,' but the studio stopped short of issuing any specs. (Paramount released the standard DVD version last month) Now full details are in, with the Blu-ray set to include all of the extras found on the DVD. Among the bonus features is an audio commentary with director Matt Reeves, four featurettes ( "Document 01.18.08: The Making of Cloverfield," "Cloverfield Visual Effects," "I Saw It! It's Alive! It's Huge!", "Clover Fun"), four additional scenes, two alternate endings, and no less than fourteen hidden easter eggs. First Look Has Blu-ray 'Proposition'[teaser]First Look has announced that it will bring Nick Cave's highly-acclaimed Western 'The Proposition' to Blu-ray this August.[/teaser] Written by legendary rocker Cave, and starring Guy Pearce, 'The Proposition' was first released on Blu-ray in the UK by Tartan Video earlier this year. First Look will debut the indie cult hit in a domestic high-def edition on August 19 (the studio released a DVD version back in 2006). Paramount Reactivates Blu-ray Catalog[teaser]Following its official return to Blu-ray yesterday, Paramount has announced plans to re-issue eight previously-discontinued catalog titles on the format in late-May. [/teaser] On May 20, the studio will bring back to market nearly a dozen titles that had been pulled from store shelves last year following Paramount's move to HD DVD-exclusivity. The complete list of re-activated titles includes: 'Aeon Flux,' 'Babel,' 'Black Snake Moan,' 'Dreamgirls,' 'Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow,' 'Sleepy Hollow,' 'The Untouchables' and 'The Warriors.' According to the studio, the titles are identical to the original releases, with the same tech specs and supplement details. Paramount has not yet confirmed suggested list prices for Blu-ray re-issues, but we'll keep you posted. Sony Reveals 'Axe Murderer' Blu-ray Box Art, Specs[teaser]Sony has confirmed specs and box art for the June Blu-ray release of 'So I Married an Axe Murderer,' but dashed hopes for the last minute addition of bonus features.[/teaser] As we've previously reported, Sony had alerted retailers to a June 17 Blu-ray bow for 'So I Married an Axe Murderer,' timed to coincide with the film's 15th anniversary. (The studio previously released a bare bones DVD edition in the late '90s). Tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio. Extras remain nil, however, with not even the film's original theatrical trailer included. The one fresh element to the Blu-ray release is the final box art, which offers a new spin on the film's original poster art: As previously announced, Sony has set the suggested retail price at $28.95 for the Blu-ray.
