Eminem's '8 Mile' Coming to Blu-ray[teaser]Universal has announced it is bringing Eminem's motion picture debut '8 Mile' to Blu-ray this Fall.[/teaser] Marking the rapper's first appearance on high-def, the $125 million-grossing drama will hit Blu-ray on November 18. (Universal previously released the title on DVD in 2002.) Tech specs will see a BD-25 single-layer presentation with 1080p video and English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround. Optional French and Spanish DTS 5.1 Surround tracks are also included, along with English, French and Spanish subtitles. Extras are slim, with the "Making of 8 Mile" featurette, uncensored "Rap Battles," and a music video. Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $29.98. 'Kit Kittredge' Headed to Blu-ray[teaser]All-American girl Kit Kittredge is coming to Blu-ray, with New Line announcing a late-October next-gen debut for her first motion picture.[/teaser] Based on the wildly popular line of dolls for young girls, 'Kit Kittredge: An American Girl' grossed only $15 million domestically despite being one of the better-reviewed films of the summer. New Line/Warner will roll out the family-friendly adventure on Blu-ray October 28, day-and-date with the standard DVD. Early tech specs indicate 1080p/VC-1 video and standard Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio, and there are no announced extras. Eagle Rock Announces 'Jethro Tull,' 'Legends' Montreux Blu-rays[teaser]A pair of new concert discs featuring music legends Jethro Tull, Eric Clapton, and David Sanborn recorded at the Montreux Rock Festival are kicking off Eagle Rock's Fall Blu-ray line-up.[/teaser] Two titles are set to debut on September 30: 'Jethro Tull: Live at Montreux 2003' and 'Legends: Live at Montreux 1997,' the latter featuring all-star jams with such greats as Clapton, Sanborn, Joe Sample, and Marcus Miller. There are no tech specs yet, but judging by Eagle Rock's previous Montreux releases, expect 1080 video and some form of high-res audio. 'Police: Certifiable' Blu-ray Specs Revealed[teaser]Universal Music Group has released final specs for the Blu-ray of 'The Police: Certifiable,' which will include three discs of music and bonus features. [/teaser] As previously reported, the famed supergroup will release their debut Blu-ray title 'The Police: Certifiable - Live in Buenos Aires.' Documenting a stop on their mega-grossing farewell tour, the Blu-ray will be made available exclusively through Best Buy beginning November 11 (day-and-date with the DVD version). Featuring the entire 109-minute concert on a BD-50 dual-layer disc, tech specs boast 1080p video and Dolby TrueHD audio in both 5.1 Surround and 2.0 Stereo. Extras include the featurette "Better Than Therapy" and a still gallery, both in full HD video. LG Details BD300 Blu-ray/Netflix Player[teaser]LG Electronics has released more information on its upcoming BD300 Blu-ray Player, which will be capable of streaming TV and movie programming to owners with Netflix subscriptions.[/teaser] In an announcement made yesterday, the company said the players will be available next month at retailers such as Best Buy and Circuit City. The suggested retail price has been set at $399.95 Allan Jason, vice president of sales and marketing for Digital Media/New Products at LG called the new player "The ultimate convergence of home theater entertainment and functionality" Jason dubbed the BD300 "the next step in a truly personalized entertainment experience." As reported by The New York Times "Bits" Technology Blog the movies streamed via Netflix will not be available in High-Def, but this is one of the first players to allow instant streaming, providing the combination of top of the line picture quality, and the added convenience of Netflix's on demand video offerings. LG representatives have also pointed out the ability to update the player's operating system to add future features through software updates. 'The Rocker' Coming to Blu-ray this October (UPDATED)UPDATE 09/03/08: We've received word from Fox Home Entertainment that despite any online retail reports, the Blu-ray of 'The Rocker' has not yet been scheduled. Although the title is planned for release, official confirmation of a street date is pending. We've updated our database in the meantime, and will keep you posted.. [teaser]In a early retailer alert, Fox is planning to bring the 'The Rocker' to Blu-ray this October.[/teaser] Starring Rainn Wilson and Christina Applegate, the musical-themed comedy has so far grossed less than $10 million at the domestic box office. Fox Brings 'Space Chimps' to Blu-ray this November[teaser]The 'Space Chimps' are coming to high-def, with Fox setting a late-November Blu-ray bow for the all-CGI animated adventure. [/teaser] Despite having the misfortune to open this past summer against 'The Dark Knight,' 'Space Chimps' still managed to eke out a respectable $30 million box office gross. The family comedy is likely to perform far better on video, however, when Fox debuts the Blu-ray November 25 (day-and-date with the standard DVD). Filled with "bonus features the whole family will go bananas over," both versions share a "Fox Movie Channel Presents: Casting Session" featurette, a still gallery and TV spots. Exclusive to the Blu-ray is the BD-Java-based "Trivia Blast Off" trivia track featuring on-screen facts about space travel and the NASA Space Program.
