Summit to Release Trio of Music Blu-rays this November[teaser]Announcing a trio of next-gen music titles, Summit Entertainment will bring live concert releases from Barenaked Ladies, O.A.R., and Heart to Blu-ray this November.[/teaser] Kicking off the indie distributor's November music slate will be 'O.A.R.: Live at Madison Square Garden' on November 4, followed three weeks later on November 25 by 'Barenaked Ladies: Talk to the Hand - Live in Michigan' and 'Heart: Dreamboat Annie Live.' Preliminary text specs see 1080 video (1.78:1) on all three releases, though there is no confirmation yet on audio. Extras will be comparable to the standard DVD extras, including featurettes, band interviews and more. Suggested retail price has been set at $34.99 each. Lionsgate Planning 'Bangkok Dangerous' Blu for January[teaser]Lionsgate is planning an early-January Blu-ray release for the actioner 'Bangkok Dangerous.'[/teaser] Debuting at No. 1 at the domestic box office, the Nicolas Cage-starrer will hit Blu-ray on January 6, day-and-date with the standard DVD. Universal Outlines 'Mummy' Blu-ray Specs, Exclusives[teaser]Universal has officially unveiled final specs for 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' which hits Blu-ray this December as a two-disc set with exclusive content.[/teaser] As we've previously reported, the studio alerted retailers to a December 16 Blu-ray date for the $100 million--plus grossing sequel, though the studio provided only preliminary specs. The full details have now been confirmed, with the studio planning a two-disc set with U-Control and BD-Live exclusives. Extras will feature audio commentary with director Rob Cohen, a suite of featurettes ("The Making of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor," "From City to Desert," "Legacy of the Terra Cotta," "A Call to Action: The Casting Process," "Preparing for Battle with Brendan Fraser and Jet Li," "Jet Li: Crafting the Emperor Mummy," "Creating New and Supernatural Worlds"), deleted and extended scenes, and a Digital Copy of the film. Exclusive include U-Control extras "Scene Explorer," "Know Your Mummy," "The Dragon Emperor's Challenge" and a picture-in-picture track. The set will also be BD-Live enabled, with "My Scenes Sharing" and additional exclusive content. Tech specs for the BD-50 dual-layer presentation enjoy 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track (48kHz/16-bit), and additional Dolby Digital and subtitle offerings in English, French, and Spanish. Universal is also planning to bring a 'Mummy' 3-pack to high-def on the same day, which will include 'Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' plus the previously-released Blu-rays of the first two installments in the series, 'The Mummy' and 'The Mummy Returns.' 'Drumline' to Pound Blu-ray this January[teaser]Fox has announced its latest catalog Blu-ray, setting a mid-January Blu-ray berth for the teen drama 'Drumline.'[/teaser] According to retail reports, the studio will debut the Nick Cannon starrer on Blu-ray January 13. First Look: 'Wanted' Blu-ray Box Art[teaser]Universal has officially unveiled full specs for 'Wanted,' which will hit Blu-ray this December in standard and collector's edition versions with hours of bonus content.[/teaser] As we've previously reported, the studio alerted retailers to a December 2 Blu-ray bow for the James McAvoy-Angelina Jolie action smash in standard and collectible editions, though the studio provided only preliminary specs. The full media release has now been issued, with both the standard and Collector's Edition Blu-ray versions set to include identical two-disc sets. Extras will feature a suite of making-of featurettes ( "Cast and Characters," "Stunts on the L Train," "Special Effects: The Art of the Impossible," "Groundbreaking Visual Effects: From Imagination to Execution," "The Origins of Wanted: Bringing the Graphic Novel to Life," "Through the Eyes of Visionary Director Timur Bekmambetov," "Wanted: Motion Comics"), deleted scenes, an alternate opening, and the "Making of Wanted: The Game" interactive feature. 'Disaster Movie' Headed to Blu-ray[teaser]Bringing the latest "movie" spoof to high-def, Lionsgate has announced an early-January Blu-ray release for 'Disaster Movie.'[/teaser] The brainchild of Aaron Seltzer (the team behind 'Date Movie,' Epic Movie' and 'Meet the Spartans'), 'Disaster Movie' skewered big-budget Hollywood hits, though it failed to achieve the same blockbuster box office heights as its predecessors. Warner Announces 'Being There' DigiBook Blu-ray[teaser]Announcing its latest DigiBook release for Blu-ray, Warner has set an early-February release for the classic 'Being There.'[/teaser] Starring the late Peter Sellers and Shirley MacLaine, the Hal Ashby-directed comedy classic will at last get the deluxe treatment when it hits Blu-ray February 3 (day-and-date with a new standard DVD re-issue).
