DIY: Make Your Own TV Lift Cabinet[teaser]Class up your home theater by adding an automated cabinet of your own. [/teaser] Want to add that special touch to your home theater? Maybe you simply want to keep the TV out of the way until it's time to watch something. Whatever the reason, an automated TV lift cabinet is the solution. The downside is that buying one could end up costing you more than your TV and require that you use a premade cabinet instead of something you really like. An Instructables user that goes by ihart has created a tutorial on how to create your own lift cabinet using simple materials and costing less than $1,000. Of that money, the lift itself makes up about half the cost. The construction of the cabinet doesn't require a huge amount of woodworking knowledge, but you'll need access to a decent number of tools. You'll also need quite a bit of time - this isn't the kind of project you can knock out in an hour. Check out the link below for the full set of instructions as well as some detailed YouTube videos that take you through step-by-step. Source: InstructablesPosted Tue Mar 6, 2012 at 07:00 AM PST by: -

Samsung Shows off a New Projector Phone with “nHD” Resolution[teaser]Apparently we’re done saying 360p in favor of more confusing terms. [/teaser] The folks at Samsung have announced a new projector phone that they’re calling “the world’s thinnest.” The Samsung Galaxy Beam is not the kind of thing that’s going to blow your mind with an impressive resolution, but it’s more easily moved than any projector to date. Samsung says that the phone has nHD resolution, which is a new marketing term that allows companies to put “HD” on boxes and in advertisements. What nHD means, for sake of clarity, is that the phone has one-ninth the resolution of a 1080p television. In other words, you’re getting 360p. The phone is, of course, a phone too. It gives you a 4-inch WVGA display, a dual-core processor and everything you’ve come to expect from the Android operating system. The Beam will be available this spring.
