Polk Introduces Two New SurroundBars[teaser]Both include wireless subs and are due out this September. [/teaser] Polk seems to have had some success with their existing SurroundBar lineup and is adding another pair into the mix - the $399 SB 5000, which offers up 2.1 channels with 5.1 Dolby Digital decoding and the $849 SB 9000, which dishes up 7.1 channel sound and plenty more. The SB 5000 is unique in that it's the first soundbar in the lineup to pack stereo Bluetooth, complete with Apt-X decoding. Apt-X promises CD quality sound over Bluetooth thanks to an audio codec that converts compressed music to PCM and recompresses it for Apt-X. Polk's SB 9000 lacks Bluetooth capabilities, but packs Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 decoding as well as analog audio outputs and an 8-inch downfiring subwoofer that's rated at 150 watts. You can pick up these new SurroundBars when they launch in September. Source: TWICEPosted Fri Jun 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM PDT by: -
Bonus View Digest - June 15, 2012[teaser]This was a very busy week at The Bonus View. First off the most controversial film of the year, so far, came out and the comments came pouring in fast and furious as people agreed and disagreed with the reviews and commentary we posted. 'Prometheus' caused quite a stir and the controversy hasn't subsided yet.[/teaser] Theatrical News With the opening of 'Prometheus' the movie quickly gained a love-it-or-hate-it vibe that spread throughout The Bonus View blog contributors. Luke's review was entirely positive, saying it was one of the best sci-fi movies he's ever seen. Josh shot back saying that it was one of the worst movies he's ever seen, comparing it to the likes of 'The Phantom Menace.' Finally, Aaron and Luke put together a Critical Mass article arguing the different points of the movie as Aaron only thought it was pretty mediocre. Whose side do you come down on? Make sure to join in on the conversation soon. Luke also took the time to review the two big theatrical openings this week. Find out just how stupid Adam Sandler's 'That's My Boy' really is, and find out if Luke liked or hated the new butt rock musical 'Rock of Ages.' One movie you should check out is the indie flick that's opening this week called 'Your Sister's Sister.' Luke says out of all the releases this weekend this is the one to see. In the Trailer Park, E discussed two different cop-centric movies that are coming out. See the trailers for 'End of Watch' and 'Killer Joe' to find out if you really want to see them. Blu-ray News This week we're giving away a couple copies of TNT's alien invasion drama 'Falling Skies.' Don't forget to enter because today is the last day that you can. Follow this link and add a few captions to the picture that has been posted. It's that easy. TV Madness We're getting down to the very last characters in the tournament, but the road to here hasn't been smooth at all. During our Brisco County, Jr. versus Buffy matchup we had some voter fraud we had to deal with. But, the tournament is back on track. Check out the results of Cameron vs. David Banner and Seven of Nine versus Raylan Givens. Also, don't forget to vote in today's matchup which will feature a pair of TV juggernauts. Malcolm Reynolds faces down Jack Bauer. TV Recaps We're reaching the bitter end of 'The Killing' and Aaron has followed the entire second season the entire way through. He may be the only critic online still covering the show, but he's determined to see it through to the end! Other recaps include the season five premiere of 'True Blood,' with the big question being: "Does it get any better?" And also a pilot recap of 'Saving Hope.' Special Features In the Mid-Week Poll we asked if you'd upgrade your home theater system to 4k standards if it became possible to do so. In anticipation of 'Prometheus' our Weekend Roundtable was centered around prequels and what prequels the contributors to the blog would like to see made. Thanks for joining us this week. Remember to head on over to The Bonus View and enter the 'Falling Skies' contest. Free TV season on Blu-ray. What do you have to lose? Keep an eye out for more contests, we're always doing them. Microsoft Gears up for a "Major Announcement" on Monday[teaser]Details are being kept to the bare minumum – all we have is speculation. [/teaser] The folks at Microsoft sent out an invitation to the press yesterday to invite them to a media event on Monday, June 18th. The company has said nothing about what the event will be, aside from "This will be a major Microsoft announcement — you will not want to miss it." Mashable writer Lance Ulanoff suspects that we'll see something right out of left field, like a Microsoft branded TV. There's also a possibility of something gaming related, but with E3 just a week behind us, it would be surprising. Perhaps this is when we'll see the reveal of the new console. We don't know what it is but we can guess what it's not. It's not Windows 8, because that's not much of a surprise. It's probably not Windows 8 for phones, unless Microsoft is trying to do an Apple style conference. And it's definitely not a new Zune. We'll find out in a few short days, but we're hoping for something great! Source: MashablePosted Fri Jun 15, 2012 at 09:30 AM PDT by: -

800 Square Foot Apartment Sports Three Big-Screen TVs and a 106" Projector Screen[teaser]Sure it's overkill, but you've got to admit, this is pretty cool. [/teaser] 800 square feet isn't a lot of space to work with, especially when setting up a home theater. One doctor in New York made it work though. He created a man cave for himself in an apartment that's directly next to his office. In fact, he even has a keypad that lets him go in through a hidden entrance hidden in his bookshelf – how cool is that? The main room is a theater with a pair of 55" Samsung TVs hidden behind Vutec Art Screens, but the highlight is a 106" projection screen with a picture provided by a Wolf Cinema SDC-15 projector. Of course, that's not all. The apartment also features a hot tub and steam room, both of which are equipped with zoned audio controllable by a weatherproof remote. Oh, and both the shower and toilet respond to the remote. Overkill? Sure. Awesome? Definitely. Source: Electronic HousePosted Fri Jun 15, 2012 at 09:00 AM PDT by: -
