4 games in all.
Believe it or not, July will mark two years since the beginning of the Free Xbox Live Games with Gold program, and to celebrate, Microsoft has announced a permanent change going forward. From July forward, there will be two free games for Xbox One owners instead of one. (Incidentally, there has already been two free Xbox One games for multiple months, but this is still a more official change.)
For July, the Xbox One will get 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag' & 'So Many Me.' ('So Many Me' will be free for Gold owners from July 16th through August 15th.) The Xbox 360 in turn will get 'Plants vs. Zombies' (review here) (from July 1st through July 15th) and 'Gears of War 3' (from July 16th through July 31st).
With the recent addtion of backwards compatibility to the Xbox One, a free digital title like 'Gears of War 3' takes on a greater importance. This is true even though 'Gears 3' has not been specified as backwards compatible.
